Beautifully crafted blade and handle. I actually like the crowned spine, it gives the knife a nice feel in the hand for me personally. I love the fit and finish on the blade as well as the overall shape and design. The only negative I have for this knife, is the sheath does not seem to be of the highest quality. The Fox logo on my sheath was already cracking when I received the knife.
The knife is spectacular. The unsharpened portion of the blade and whole tang is crowned to a mirror finish. The edge is extremely sharp out of the box and though haven't used it enough to gauge how well it holds its edge, I have no doubt it will hold well. It should also be easy to sharpen this material when it comes time to bring back that edge. The jimping where your thumb rests feels smooth yet is aggressive, providing both comfort and control. The finish on the cocobolo handle is absolutely beautiful and feels as good as as it looks in your hands.
There are two things I consider as downfalls. The first is minor in my opinion due to my hand/finger size. The cutout in front of the handle at the base of the blade is too small. I'm not sure if the purpose of this cut is for finger placement to help with knife control on detail work but that is how I use it. The cut is just big enough for my index finger though I would be nervous about putting too much pressure on my finger when placing it there. I can see how a person with a larger hand may not be able to use the cut as I do comfortably or safely. My biggest gripe with the knife how ever has nothing to do with the knife itself but the sheath. It looks good, one of the two I bought holds the knife in very securely and it hangs nicely on a belt. The problem is, when putting the knife back into the sheath you need to be careful or it snags and cuts into the sheath. As for the one that has a loose fit, I will be making a kydex sheath.
A new fixie favorite!! Overall amazing value - gorgeous to look at, perfectly balanced, and just a wonderful crafted look and feel to it. A hands down win. Mine will never see any real work - I purchased it with exactly that intent and am so glad I did!
Handle: cocobolo wood
-Wood & craftsmanship = extremely high quality
-Hole for lanyard
-Thick, exposed butt could use for hammer (don’t!)
-Perfect fit for larger hand
Blade:
-Metal & craftsmanship = extremely high quality
-Sharpness Out-Of-Box = Razor (will shave a few arm hairs)
-Finish = extremely high quality; bright & even.
Sheath: leather
-Holds extremely tightly
-High-quality feel and smell
-Hangs low off the belt
Overall: Highly Recommended!
Blade shape is pretty good, grind is pretty good, not terribly thick behind the edge so it cuts well. Blade steel seems to be holding up pretty well so far. Handle is kinda meh? The wood is lovely but I think it needs a little more girth to be more comfortable in the hand. Sheath is alright but it's prone to getting cut if you don't put it in correctly.
The cocobolo handle is beautiful, and the knife handles amazingly well. I will second what someone said about the knife cutting the sheath if not inserted at the right angle. Not a big deal though for me, but it could be annoying if you unsheath the knife frequently.
This knife is not only shape but it’s also beautiful. The polished blade and wood handle makes it functional and ergonomic to use. My only negative comment is that the leather sheath is too small for the blade and as a result, it will cut the sheath when you insert the blade. IF Fox fixes this issue, then this knife would definitely get a 5 star rating
