My oldest XF lens, can't be beat for the price. AF is a bit loud and hunty, but really great if you want a small street lens. I typically use mine on my X-Pro2 (and before that, on my X-E2) that I throw in my backpack or pocket whenever I go out. Great results!
Had this lens for 4 years when I got my xt1. Great lens cap replacement lol with ok Image quality, auto focus is a little slow tho. But the price here on massdrop is not that great TBO
for a gray import, price should be $150 or less imo.
eglobalcentral been selling it for $150/€150 for the past few months. check their sites (eu,us,fr), it's still available.
Anyway, this is a must-have lens in my daily-carry bag - or back pocket..
lack of aperture ring is not an issue, as imo focus is too soft wide open anyway.. stopped down to f4 , center focus is great. at f5.6 corner focus is also good.
can always use the control wheel on the back of the camera to adjust aperture when you need it.
better this than a finicky aperture ring that moves every time you reach for the focus ring...
Retails at $399. Not $449. I hate when retailers try to exaggerate their sales prices by giving an inflated 'retail'.
Is this Guitar Center?
That said, I may jump on this. Good enough deal, I'm not terrified about being out of warranty when I save $170+.
Also, my grey market Canon that I bought a couple years ago? Never had to get any warranty service. Just saying, I think some of the hand wringing is coming from the same guys who call me up about my craigslist ads asking if I still have the original box for the lens. And if not, can I knock a few dollars off? 'No. It's used, the price already reflects that!'
Fuji FTW.
CalaverasgrandeYeah. Fuji puts them on sale now and again. I obtained a XF 23 f2 for a hundred bucks off on one of their sales. But the price today on B & H for the 27mm was $449. It seems this for $200 is a pretty solid deal.
Available from eGlobalCentralUS for $233 USD. Use BUY599 promo code for add'l $5.99 off. I used it on a E-2S for street shots. It's OK. I now live in rural MN; not many streets!! The XC 50-230mm on a X-T2 is more useful for me now.
