I cannot put these in my pocket. I cannot put these in my messenger bag. What are these doing in EDC?

So whatever I happen to be wearing counts as EDC? Then EDC is a meaningless category--particularly when there's already an outdoor category these weren't placed in...

Mine came a week or so ago, and I took them for their first ruck on Saturday, a 14 miler with a 60 pound load. I bought them primarily for GORUCK events, but I'll probably use them for hiking and backpacking too.
These boots are awesome. Light, extremely grippy, and they make me want to get out and go. I've previously been wearing a pair of Rocky C5C boots, and after three events and a ton of training I decided it was time to make an upgrade. I haven't taken them in the water yet, but they have plenty of drain holes with sand screens so I'm confident they'll drain quickly. The construction of the boot is pretty spartan as well, so I don't see them absorbing much water. The tread is big and open and handles mud well.
A note on sizing: they fit differently than I expected, especially compared to the fit of the C5Cs. They fit more like my running shoes or my Chuck Taylors than my old boots, with a more close-fitting feel that makes me feel closer to the ground. The boots themselves are even smaller and more streamlined. It took me a bit to get used to, but now that I've worn them for awhile I really like it.
I wear an 11.5 in my running shoes and I ordered an 11.5 in the T8's. A size up would probably be OK, but I'd probably have to wear thicker socks. Right now I run Superfeet Green's in mine, with a thin liner sock and a thin wool sock.
There was little or no break-in period. After wearing them to work one day I took a risk and wore them for a long ruck and was not disappointed.

chrismetcalfGreat review, thanks for posting!
Is there other gear you need to train for or compete in events that you'd like Massdrop to carry?

JonasHeinemanCertainly! Stuff that I've been very happy with for events that'd be awesome to see on Massdrop:
- GORUCK rucksacks, obviously. In particular, the GR1, Rucker, and Bullet (http://www.goruck.com/rucksacks/c/102) - GORUCK ruck plates, in 20lb and 30lb weights. I have both (http://www.goruck.com/ruck-plates/c/103) - GORUCK apparel is the shiz! I've got the Rucking Shirt and it's probably my favorite weekend shirt right now. I don't have any of the pants yet but I want them in every color (http://www.goruck.com/goruck-usa-built-apparel/c/111) - Black Diamond Storm LED headlamp. As events happen at night, a good waterproof headlamp is a requirement. The Storm has bright spot and close up area white modes, and a great red mode. It lasts forever and I've submerged it in icy water numerous times with no problems (http://amzn.to/2mOxGAc) - Socks. Smartwool Ultra Light Hikers and Fox River liners. Layering socks helps prevent blisters, especially when you're wet most of the time (http://amzn.to/2n68t61, http://amzn.to/2nlGaCJ) - Pelican Boxes. Sensitive devices and valuables need to be kept dry and crush proof (http://amzn.to/2n6d0Fw) - Water bladders. Hydration is critical. The cheap bladder I bought for my first event burst within 15 minutes, so now I run a 3L Source bladder (http://amzn.to/2nlLGFi)

I'm sure these are only being dropped because the Army is phasing all tan boots out by October... but if coyote was available that'd be amazing for us GIs.

tbwenI "believe" that they are made in coyote color, and would support such an offering if dropped again!

I wouldnt use any oil on leather unless it's specially intended for leather use. I suggest something like Huberd's Shoe Grease to treat the leather, protect it, and darken it. If you insist on doing it yourself, at least wash the leather with saddle soap first. Adding too much oil to leather will weaken it.

Someone at Massdrop needs to explain clearly how the sizes run, are they American or UK, and define the width equivalency, otherwise I wont take a chance on this purchase. Zero optics and ball bearings aside, simple folk want to know how how they fit!

Gotta echo the request for what sizing these use: American or UK. I'm ready to order but I don't want to order the wrong size.

Just completed a three event GORUCK Tough - Tough - Scav series in Ann Arbor and Detroit with these boots. Did everything in them - road rucking, running, bottom samples, PT, bushwacking through hills under heavy loads, QCB simulations in an old auto factory - and they were awesome.

By popular demand, here are a few pictures of my Bifida's after about two months of heavy training and two consecutive GORUCK Tough events.
They're well broken in, but the tread is great and they're holding up amazingly. I don't know how I'd kill these things.

CarbonFuzeThey are not waterproof at all, and they don’t dry out very well ☹️ Just came off 3 weeks out field with a big thunderstorm and they took 2 full days to dry out again
