Great buy
As they say in the videos you go through more water with one of these. That's an important thing in the heat - any time really, it's hard to drink enough normally. Normal 80 degree day on a walk in the park for something like 90 minutes, I finished 2/3 of this pack and got rid of it all through sweat (relatively fit 200lb guy, though I was wearing pants & not shorts). Was quite happy to have had it once I realized that. I purchased this for motorcycle riding out in the heat. I haven't used it for that yet but I'm sure it will perform at least as well as it did in the park. Nice that you can buy inline virus/bacteria filters for use in the backwoods. They say do not overinflate - I must have done this when I was cleaning mine initially because I did pop a small hole in the air side. I don't believe they have any air in these when they stand on them in the demo videos. I bought another hydration engine rather than pay shipping both ways for a warranty replacement (since the overinflation is clearly warned against, it seems unlikely they'd cover it anyways). I'll repair the old one with some epoxy & use it as a spare. Bottom line - they're serious about the overinflation and it's reasonably soon that it happens; that's the only physical weakness of the product.

Solid backpack
Bought this a few months ago and now it’s my go to backpack for hikes and bike rides! I have enough room in the bag for a few tools for biking and a few snacks along the way. It’s heavier than I expected it to be but I’m super happy with the purchase. I liked it so much I bought 3 more for family members and they have only had good things to say about it. I might have even bought the a 710 and the 1600 as well! Im putting this bag through the ringer. And so far it’s held up to everything I’ve put it through!

Great small pack for small adventures
I normally take this with me to go on shorter bike rides. It's enough to throw your everyday-carry items plus more (more as in two bottles of wine) The straps and back pads are UBER comfortable and the hydration system is great. My only complaint is that sometimes the plastic tube pops off of the squeeze bulb when putting the bag on or taking it off. It is easy enough to reattach -- but after adjusting straps to ensure they're loose enough to not interfere and very carefully putting the pack on, it still happens. There are, in fact, some little niceties with the pack:
  • Velcro loops at the end of excess shoulder straps to avoid them flapping at your sides
  • Handy fold and slide seal at the mouth of the reservoir
  • Adjustable pouch to hold the bulb pump at your place of choice along the shoulder strap
I do think the pressure feature is a bit gimmicky, but for the value to cost ratio this pack offers, it's a solid, comfortable hydration pack for short adventures.

GREAT compact hydration backpack
Small so not a bag for carrying anything but the essentials. Has a nice rigid back with generous spacing in between back pads for air to help cool you. I dont use the air pressure system, so thats cool it is optional and removable. bite valve is great. looks great. very durable. Ummm yea. get it, seriously. pray it comes back in stock.

Nice pack
Pressurized water bladder seems a little gimmicky and unnecessary. But, its good quality and holds water.

Solid pack with an above average water bladder. Is the pump worth it?
I'd say what sets this apart from other packs meant to be used with water bladders isn't too much in the pack itself but the 'engine' as they say. Pack-wise: So far the construction of the pack has me really quite satisfied, though the weight could stand to go down a little. The built in pass-throughs in both shoulder straps are easy to use and very helpful in not appearing as a mess of tubes, and there are a few slits to choose from at different heights; good design to cater to different body measurements there. Chest strap feels like an afterthought, but maybe the people who use them more would like that it was added. Not black mark on the product of course. Cool tension clip to hold the water line in place instead of letting it hang loose. I'll say that the direction it was originally set up in was a little uncomfortable as it dug into the underside of my arm, but it is a removable clip so it did feel better after I flipped it around. Space is a little lacking with the bladder all filled up but you can get more than just essentials packed in. Water Bladder: Alright, on to the main item here. So far it works as intended, like any other water bladder. Nothing to special to note in its basic functions. Now for the pump gimmick. Is it truly just a gimmick? No, it actually is helpful; if you pump it up in advance (not too much of course), all it takes is a light bite and water will be filling your mouth. Really makes getting hydrated while on the move easy. Just a little oddity i've encountered during my use; when your water level gets low, having air pumped up actually prevents water from coming out too well. I found that when that happened i'd just deflate it and re-pressurise it again.

Nice improvement
This is my second Rig 500, the one i bought through Drop is made out of rip stop nylon so it is slightly lighter than the previous generation/model as it was made out of ballistic nylon. The new one came with an insulated tube and a pocket for inline water filters, with some redesigned pockets. I haven't actually used it yet as my first rig is still going strong, but overall better than the previous generation and the price <$50 convinced me to buy. Definitely recommend.

Great for small to medium hikes
the water bladder holds enaough water for a medium hike. It is easy to re-fill and easy to clean afterwards. the additional pockets give enough storage for a snack, flashlight and so on. the straps can be used to secure a jacket. carriying the pack is comfortable.
