because the cap is a tribute to the 1st macintosh and all the mechanical macintosh/apple boards were all alps. the cap belongs on an alps board.
simplified alps are still made today (matias & clones). sure, not as popular as all the MX variants out there. you can still buy new boards with alps switches.
cherry MX & alps SKCL/SKCM both came out in 1983.
the alps SKCC came out in 1980.
You should offer an option to purchase extra blank word pieces for maybe +$1.00 a pop or +$5.00 for 5 pieces. I appreciate the fact you include the dimensions but ya gotta have hundreds of those blanks layin around. Kick down my man.

And in regards to caps, it's honestly one of the best ways and cost effective methods to make intricately designed caps on the cheap while maninting a very high level of craftsmanship.
