vanmmyersIt's really not, only idiotic plebs are paying the prices that are listed on Ebay / Amazon / Newegg MARKETplace.
You can literally go buy a 3GB 1060 for $279-$289 in several places right now.
I bought 7 1080s last week for $579-$599 a piece, there are still plenty of places selling at MSRP, just because you can't find them doesn't mean they don't exist.
DaengineerWhat exactly is wrong with mining? because you don't understand it or because you cant get a video card for retail price because they are being bought as fast as amd and nvidia can stock them which means they are printing money right now... TBH I hate the prices and how jacked they are because demand is TOO high... but i don't blame the miners.
Also who is the bigger idiot or fool here the gamer who cant afford to buy a 400 video card or the miner who buys 12 800 dollar video cards because in a month that card will pay for itself...
lunaseclipseIf you are at a buffet and one person takes all the good/fresh/desirable food (way more than most people take normally), wouldn't you be upset they left nothing for everyone else? It is greedy at the very least and it negatively impacts a lot of people. When you buy 8 cards you are preventing 7 other people from buying them. I understand you want them, and you have the money to throw away to buy them, but that doesn't mean that you can do whatever you want and still have the moral high ground. You are being selfish because you are consuming finite resources without care for how it impacts the rest of the market, at least come to terms with that and don't pretend you are some genius who invented something. Greed isn't smart or novel, it is just shameless and selfish.
lunaseclipsethat is wrong, that will not pay for it in a month, people are now mining bitcoin for the wrong reasons, people are now doing it for money, the block chain was meant to do more, but people wanted to make money off of it, and now block chain tech is sky rocketing, but at what cost?? yea people who mine are smart kinda, but gamer's are amd and nvidia first customers. I mined bitcoin and eth in 2013, im glad i got out of this stupid mining , but there needs to be cards that are only for gamer's and only for miners. within 1 year time, mining cypto will be so hard and people will get out, and the only thing left is big companies. like always, i made my millions already but people should not be doing this for money, but for what cypto was made for, it is down the drain now.... let that sit in.
CynicGFeast up and enjoy! If you can afford even 50 or 100 cards, it's your own money, you're a paying customer and though it sucks for those of us who have been waiting for certain cards to come out...that's just life. It's the same as waiting for say a certain classic car to become available for sale...grab it quick, or be willing to pay up.
bigb00stthat is not true, there is more to bitcoin, as to why he started it, and as to why it happened, and why it was so good for black market deals, there are more reasons then you can imagine
vanmmyersi live in san jose ca, and man you can get some great deals on cards, i got a 580 strix card, for 240, on CL..lol the guy was a gamer and tested me on the games i played..lol to make sure i was not a miner, people on CL wont sell to miners if they know they are..lol
gamer2liveI am aware the one month ROI is not actually viable with the market as it is right now and the prices on cards in 1 year is only remotely possible...
And cynicG is the weather nice up there on your high horse? Or are you a cherry the real world has yet to crush under its heels? Perhaps some sort of idealist who thinks the world works differently than the way it actually does. Well let me spin some hard truths. If it is possible you can earn a living by running a mining farm people will be all over that because you know what WORK SUCKS THE LIFE FROM YOU. So what if you can make a living letting a room of computers crunch numbers you just need to monitor it and let it run you can monitor it from anywhere while you are doing what YOU want to do... Vs the alternative of serving you coffee at the local Starbucks for minimum wage...
vanmmyersPlease read. My "Opinion" comment was a reply to someone else.
Again, you just don't know when and where to look, I assure you they are there, but believe what you wish.
lunaseclipseExactly, I have a small farm that makes almost as much as my 9-5, I don't really care what anyone's opinion is of me, or mining, or crypto.
It's here, there's money to be made, you can sit and hate from the sidelines all you want.
lunaseclipseit used be a 1 month roi for each card...lol and yea people are on there high horse, with bitcoin, because they think they know so much about it. when you cash in millions of bitcoin and other cryptocurrency, all of it starts to not matter, it be working smart sure, but you can be doing so much more with the understand of block chain tech, your pretty awesome try to have a good day Lunas
bigb00stThere are none. I’ve looked. Give a valid example from a month ago that is of no use to me. There still aren’t any other than snagging one off eBay and getting lucky or hoping your areas CL isn’t dry. Same with stores. The ones where I live are t even receiving new stock
vanmmyersWhat if I told you vendors get new stock in EVERY DAY, just because you're too inept to get them when they come in stock doesn't mean they aren't there, it just means you didn't get them.
You think there's just no video cards anywhere but in scalpers hands? Give me a break.
vanmmyersor you can get in your car go to frys or best buy and look for stock the miners do as do the people who are taking advantage of the super high demand they buy out stock for the purpose of flipping to miners desperate for cards and gamers who want a card to play games on...
keep checking they will get new stock eventually the only thing that will get anyone including miners new videocards to use at or close to msrp is vigilance... keep looking keep your eyes on the store shelves... Another trick i have seen is to buy a full and complete system that has the card you want in it then sell off the prebuilt system minus the gpu if you do it right you can even get the gpu Free you just need to put up 700-1200 first...
Also word of warning HDD are gonna be next to have this super high demand...
vanmmyers1050Tis lmao, those are straight up EVERYWHERE, if you can't find 1050/1050TIs right now you should just hang it up, because those are the easiest to find BY FAR.
Anyways, do your thing bud, I'll keep buying cards daily, you keep thinking there aren't any.
lunaseclipseI don’t need a GPU at all. I have a gtx 1080. Just sharing this would actually be useful for many people who are in card desserts. Before the rush I only ever saw 2 GPUs at the local bestbuys. Twe had 0 6 months back when I bought mine from newegg
vanmmyersActually you said this gibberish.
"What if I told you my friend works at the micro cente, which has o my received 1050 Tis for the last 6 weeks"
Good try though.
vanmmyersI have never once scalped a card, because that would be stupid.
People who scalp cards are short sighted idiots. Chomping at the bit to try to make $100 scalping a card when if put to work will make you thousands.
lunaseclipseNo it won't...at the highest possible hashrate today that this card is capable of, it would take 10 months to break even, if you got free power.
vanmmyersHonestly just tired of arguing with you.
Where in the business world does a 3 month ROI or 5 month ROI represent a bad thing?
What if I told you an 18-month ROI is still considered a success in the business world, but even a 5 month ROI is more than acceptable.
FWIW, I've paid off my initial investment 3 fold, and currently use 1/2 of my earnings to buy more cards and the other half goes into savings, I'm so far in the green I don't even know where the red is.
bigb00st3-5 is acceptable. Past that, you venture into speculative investin, as the value of coins (if you don’t cash out immediately) and difficulty of mining is so volitile. Even oldish ASICS hit 3 month ROI. This is not business, as you have to repeat that investment again and again. A card will mine for a year or a few, whil buying say a property for you business will last indefinitely, and likely gain in value instead of depreciatin. What is important is ROI/LE (life expectancy. For a store, a three year ROI (relatively poor) is equivalent to 1/10, while the 12 months to payback a 1080 that has a lifespan of a few more months before harsh depreciation associated with a new architecture and difficulty increase makes the value 2, or a 50% loss in money. It was profit to buy GPUs when my two 1080s earned $20 a day, but now that they earn about $6, it would be stupid to buy more unless attempting to mine and then scalp
bigb00stNice economic egotism as well. I’m honestly impressed. Normally I expect to see this from billionaire VC investors competing for a place in first round funding (that’s a process I have no desire to partake in for the future), but I’m honestly surprised to see it from another uninformed braggarts with little economic foresight. It has been profitable, it may continue to be, but not enough so that it is worth the time and predatory consumerism. Also, your probably about to start seeing red. Note: net profit does not mean you can’t be in the red, also, it’s called being in the black not in the green. Good try buddy
vanmmyersOfficially my last post.
All investing is speculatory. All investing is a risk. It's clear you are not ok with the risk, that's fine, I am, and I'm doing well.
There are GPUs that are 2 generations old that still generate plenty of profit, so please don't act like new architecture or increasing difficulty is going to render current gen flagship cards useless anytime soon, eventually, sure, soon, not a chance.
And FWIW, with all the time you've spent debating me you probably could have found some sub $300 1060s, I know I found a few 1080's under $600 ;) Take care!
bigb00stThey don’t profit enough to make any foreseeable ROI for the most part. Investing has risk, but you invest when the odds favor you, not when every mathematical factor (difficulty, supply and demand of new release, etc.) goes against you. I’ve said this before. I dont want to take GPUs from people who can use them for entertainment. I have my two 1080s. My personal investments (although only an initial $800) grew to $40000 from my eigth to sixteenth birthday. This is because I do research that says everything is in my favor, not against me, and invest for people’s betterment, not self gain. 8 year old me make 39k by putting money in water parks after evidence of an economic recession that would not have large cuts in associate luxury spending, therefore increasing the demand for enjoyable escapes, and increasing margins for these businesses. I invest long term, because it is less volitile and more impactful. Also, good luck getting 50x return on mining without investing ridiculous amounts of time or ripping people off.
CynicGBut this isn't a buffet they are buying each plate at double or triple the price but the normal guests who only want one plate can't buy at normal price because one person bought multiple plates.
This is a $279 MSRP card.
Lets mark it up $100 and call it a drop hahaha.
I paid 279.99 for a 6G model not too long ago
