How is the bass quantity and quality of the dac/amplifier section? I'd like to help out my Shure 1840 with some good bass and maybe tame the highs a bit. Can someone describe the sound signature/frequency response of the dac section and the amp section as well? Much appreciated as i am in search of a good dac/amp combo that pairs well with the 1840.

ShredOhrDue to the m9xx's nearly zero-ohm output impedance, the increased damping factor exerts a very strong grip on your headphone's drivers which translates to tight, accurate, controlled bass. The m9xx was designed to be reference quality, neutral, ruler flat frequency response from 15Hz-20kHz. It will reproduce recordings exactly as they were recorded with every detail. The Shure 1840 should be a great match with the m9xx!
