Nice build and finish, excellent non-stick qualities at first, but showing signs of wearing off

I don't know who gave you the idea these pans wouldn't last as long as any other pan, but you can tell them for me--they are most certainly full of copious amounts of caca. I have these pans and they have preformed and worn very well--I doubt you could distinguish them from new at this point. They are not intended to be a replacement for Cast Iron or Stainless Steel pans or skillets--but they are indispensable for the purpose for which they were designed: non-stick cooking (which is to say, not for searing steaks)! At my house, that means eggs! Of course I could use my cast iron or stainless steel fry pans for eggs, but what the hell for? These GreenPans are so easy to clean, you barely need water (you could actually just wipe them out, if no one was looking). I also have the 3.5 qt covered saucier and that one is great for my special one-pot pasta dinners (actually, I stole the recipe from Martha Stewart while she was...uh...away). Anyway, for cooking dishes with liquids, they are fine. For sticky stuff that doesn't require screaming hot temps, they are also fine. As for oven temps, the manufacturer claims they're fine up to 450 degrees. Back to the wear question, they're so non-stick that any utensil will lift or move whatever you're cooking. There's no need to use steel, but you could in a pinch (I don't use steel on my All-Clads either, by the way). So, would I take them camping and use them on an open fire? No, I don't really care for camping--but with a reasonable amount of care, these pans will most likely last longer than you (or your friend, Monsieur de La Poo-poo)! On the other hand, I don't recommend them to people who think they only need one pan for everything (those people are Philistines, and they can't be trusted with nice pots and pans). These pans are intended to compliment an otherwise well-equipped kitchen, much the way a nice set of Phillips head screwdrivers complements a set of flathead screwdrivers. You do have more than one kind of screwdriver, don't you?! Only a Philistine wouldn't!!!

Whats the point of spending so much on something that is only going to last a year or two (or less)? If you're using low to med. heat like you need to, a cheap greenpan is just the same.

The coating on these is phenomenal, but requires one to be considerate and diligent in order to keep it that way. I have a full set + some extra ones from a previous drop because I already ruined two of them. here are some tips and guidelines based on my experience: these pans will not tolerate high heat at all. it would destroy the non-stick properties in but a few uses. use low to medium heat only, never leave the pan empty on a high heat source (even when initially heating it up!). can use short bursts of high heat only if there's a uniform layer of liquid covering the pan's surface. if you see stuff beginning to stick, add some water and stir. not doing so will cause carbonization, which will permanently degrade the non-stick capability. company claims metal utensil safe, but is a big no-no. not dishwasher safe either, no way. can't even wash it with dish soap, must use mild detergent or a soapless-soap. Overall, I'm really enjoying these. you can clearly see in the photo below just how effective the non-stick coating is, and how easy it is to make a quick stir fry meal when sh!t hits the pan (pun intended) ^_^ [image]
