Is the hydration pack area detachable like the older Stout/present Baltoro models? I think they are called 'Sidekicks'. It wasn't mentioned in the description.
Thanks
D00MSHARKThanks a lot for your troubles. Going for the Gregory Paragon 58 that's on drop right now. Seems to be well balanced from cost and feature point of views.
I bought one of the stout packs in a previous drop and love it. Adjustable harness is easy to use. My first serious pack and this one seems legit. Well built, not too heavy and I like the pouches on the belt straps.
Just bought a stout 45 for myself. Although no regrets since doesn't look like this drop ships to Canada. Love the bag, lots of features, great weight. Sits really nicely against your back.
Be sure to go be fitted for a pack before purchasing . I tried 3 x 's ~ all brands Osprey, Marmot, Deuter..... The Gregory Deva 60 ( womens) was the only pack that fit my "military" spine and didn't push my head forward or pull down on my shoulders. It is heavier than I wanted at 4.1 lbs. I was surprised at 5"7" to be an XS . So try them on with and without weight inside . That said , this is a great price .
SightUpYes this is a very high quality brand! When I saw it on Massdrop I was hooked on buying it because at REI it was more expensive! I got the 65L Stout which fits me very well and I am around 5'10" so this should not be any problem but make sure you get the Stout and not one of the Amber backpacks because they are more for shorter people because of the straps and supports. And yes you can wash them they are the same material made for rain jackets and can be very durable.
Hope this helps!
SightUpStout is for male build, amber for female build, but you can always pick based on your physique and preferences. Size is dependent on your intended usage, doesn't make much sense to carry a 75L for a day trip when a 20L will do well. Washing can be done with mild soap according to instructions on gregory's site.
Picked up the Stout 65 from a local outfitter a few months ago and I quite like it. The integrated rain fly was very nice of an addition. The only issues I've run into are planning on placing certain items, such as a jacket or coat, but it holds everything nicely that I need.
