Received my Grifos Nyloe this evening. I have to say, it's a mixed bag. First of all, I must say that I DID, in fact, receive a defective converter. It won't draw ink. I'm no fountain pen novice, so I believe I can safely say it was not user error. I won't complain too much, since it was free, but I think grifos needs to step up that quality considering the price point of their pens--or don't include it.
Second, I'm not in love with the pen's looks. The guilloche cap is GORGEOUS, but the exaggeratedly flared center band all but ruins it for me. The resin barrel looks flat and visually uninteresting. Overall, I'd give it a 3/5 for aesthetics--and that's all thanks to the guilloche.
Mechanically, the pen seems to work well enough, but I'm unsold on the nib. It's on the generic side and reminds me an awful lot of the nibs on my $10 Jinhao pens. It lays down a relatively smooth, broad, wet line though, so not complaining overmuch again. My guess is that it's quite expensive to work that silver cap, and there's not a lot of room left over for high quality nibs and converters. I will say the pen is well balanced, and the cap posts with a satisfying click (though does freewheel side to side when posted). So 3/5 for mechanics as well.
Overall I give the pen 3 stars out of 5. I probably wouldn't buy it again, but i knew I was taking a chance here ... my preference is more for high quality writing experiences than stellar aesthetics. Again, the silver cap is beautiful.

Very excited! My first Grifos pen. I've heard pretty much only good things (minus the odd converter issue), so i'm very much looking forward to being with this pen.

Absolutely--believe it or not, no criticism was intended. Even the best most established oldest pen manufacturers in the world might ship a bad converter or two. I'm just glad you include one! And like I said, certainly not enough to stop anyone from buying one of your (by all accounts) excellent pens.
writerstephenThanks and best regards! Maurizio

Received this pen a couple days ago and Im very impressed. The pen is very good looking and the build quality is excellent. I filled it via the coverter with KWZ IG Mandarin Orange ink and it wrote immediately without hard starts or any skipping. I ordered mine with a double broad nib which is a tad narrower than the usual western double broad, which I knew from previous correspondence with "Stubnib". I am very satisfied with the Grifos Nyloe and don't hesitate to recommend it.

The converter that came with mine works very poorly. There's zero draw from the bottle, and I think it's defective. So I have had to use one of the cartridges that came with the pen. (There are six of them, which is generous, but I much prefer using my own inks.) I am probably going to have to get a better converter. Can't give a lengthy judgment on the writing experience yet, but the flow is a bit on the dry side and demands a bit more force than I like, but the smoothness of the writing once the pen gets going is nice, especially for a fine point. I usually like to post pens, and it posts easily with a secure click, (though the cap freewheels after posting; not a drawback, just interesting), but most of the 1.5 oz weight is in the cap and posted it's pretty long, which makes writing a little unwieldy. BUT, unposted the pen has very nice balance. It's a very attractive pen with a pleasing, distinctive design. I got the green barrel.

PAL52Hi PAL52...sorry you're having trouble with your converter. Maybe these suggestions might help. Since this converter is the type that can be completely disassembled, make sure that all the connections are tight especially the silver colored band that joins the clear plastic part...and make sure you don't reloosen the parts while you're turning the piston. New converters are often finicky with the first fill. What I do in that case is pull the converter out of the section and just dip the converter in the ink bottle to fill. Then reattach to section and turn the piston to push a drop of ink out of the nib. This wets the feed. At this point you can try adding more ink to top off the converter. Reassemble the pen and you should be able to write without problem. Hope this helps.

Has anyone had any experience with Grifos pens before? I am very tempted by this one, but I'm not familiar with the brand at all.

That green is gorgeous ... not sure about that flared center band though. I know it's supposed to be visually interesting, but to me it just looks tacked on.

writerstephenAbout the flared band at end cap...you'll find that on almost all the pens made by Grifos. It appears to be a signature design element for the company. In person, the flair isn't nearly as prominent or noticeable as it appears in the photo. I think the discrepancy is due to light and shadows in the photo. Hope this helps.
