The zipper on my bag ripped and there is a hole on the first trip I took with it. This is due to badly designed shoulder straps, they pull on the zipper in 1 specific place.
If you wear this as a backpack, it will rip the zipper eventually. Guaranteed. It is a design flaw.

If you are not using it as a backpack, where do the shoulder straps go? Do they tuck away somewhere, or do they stay on the outside of the bag?

Does anyone know how well a 15" laptop might fit inside this bag? Doesn't look like there's any padded sleeve so just wondering...

keimuraIt will definitely fit in there, but like you mentioned there isn't a padded sleeve, so you'll have to use your own added protection for the laptop.
