HERITOR makes watches to be passed down for generations. The Gregory is a stunning timepiece with a large open heart at 6 o’clock and a 24-hour sub-dial Read More
frk3It's not all Drop watch guys; I agree with you in essence, but sometimes the words appear differently and without due consideration to other people's feelings. It is really quite difficult for many who normally get their point across in a visual and audible format. That's probably why some make their living writing; but sadly not all of us! including me: I wish I had that gift as I am sure what I have said or written on many occasions has been inconsiderate. You are right as I have said before this is a lot of watch for the money; probably one of Heritor's most attractive. Unfortunately there are some "trolls" who just like to be rude because of the anonymity, a bit like some of the social media sites suffer from. And there are a lot of guys who like to drop a bit of humour into their comments, and some who just like the "wind-up". Don't give up on them there are a few great guys.
The Parnis brand sells a real automatic moon phase for $99. I've had one for 3 years. Based on the Sea-Gull ST25 family. It's a lot of watch for a hundo!!
You are right. I already know we can't find automatic moonphase at this price. But Drop solds Auto moonphase at this price under 100, So we gave 100 for Heritor, totally clueless brand.
I have never heard of this brand, but the watch looks good for the price, so here is some info I've found.
An interview with the owner of Resculto, who appears to own the Heritor brand:
https://www.watchpro.com/qa-jeff-freedman-of-resultco-talks-heritor/
From the interview above:
"The Heritor brand receives its final design approval in America. However, we source parts for assembly from the best sources based on quality and value. We use the same high grade stainless steel as famous Swiss brands. Leather is purchased from Italy to produce many of our straps. The movement is also produced from parts produced internationally. "
That reads to me like someone trying to hide the fact that everything is manufactured and assembled in China. It is interesting that despite the design being "approved" in America, he did not say that the design was completed or produced in America.
I can't say for sure, but this appears to be a cheap outsourced brand, designed to appear to be worth more than it is.
Here is a review of another watch from Heritor that appeared in the WatchGang subscription service:
https://www.thepeaklapel.com/home/2018/1/22/watchgang-review-50-heritor-automatic-final-assessment
The author sums up the issue at hand here, albeit on another watch:
"The retail price of this watch is $800. Yes, you read that right. Sure, it’s a nice watch. But for a fraction of the price, I would prefer a watch from Orient. An $800 watch from Heritor means a lot less than a $300 from Orient. With Heritor, I hardly know what I am buying."
TLDR:
All of that being said, in my personal opinion, $100 for a watch that looks and plays the part, only halfheartedly tries to hide what it is, and comes with a 2-year manufacturer warranty seems to be fair deal.
I think what they must mean is that if your kids stick you in a crappy old-age home and never visit, this would be appropriate to "pass down to the next generation".
You could leave your Patek to the nice lady working the dining room who always made sure you got extra Jello.
A lot of people are going to look at this watch and mistake it for something it's not.
It's not a true moon phase watch.
It's an inexpensive fashion watch, dolled-up to affect the appearance of a moon phase watch.
No one is being deceived--those who know how much an automatic, moon phase watch actually costs, aren't going to be misled, and those who don't know, will probably find this watch meets their needs (tics, tells time)
Would be handy to know what the actual movement is--couldn't find it on Heritors site.
Forget charging more, the rumors are true. Over a period of a month, I was at the AD every week if not twice a week. They had 1 steel model, a 39mm grape dial oyster. That’s it for new models. On the preowned side, no sports models at all, full stop, except for a 35 and 40mm Yachtmaster. Now, I am a peasant unworthy of being allowed to purchase a new Rolex. I’m dating myself here, but it’s like the scene in pretty woman where Julia Roberts is exclaiming,”but I have the money!”
