Amazon Music's UI just keeps getting worse and worse. The fact that I can't find a specific song on their app, that I know is in my library, half the time is horrible. Amazon Music is why I'm back on an DAP.

This thing is a fucking beast. Obviously drives IEMs easily, but also delivers reasonably well as a portable amp/player for my HD6XXs. I get that a desktop amp is much better suited for the HD6XX, but the fact this thing drives them while I can wander around/lay on the couch instead of sit at the desktop is great. I hate the search function and how barebones the filesystem is. It uses the old T9 text typing instead of a full QWERTY keyboard due to the small size of the screen. Sometimes this sucks ass, because you're waiting for a character to tick over because your search string has letters on the same 'key'. When you search for an artist, albums of that artist won't show up under albums, or when you click on an artist from your search, you immediately go to ALL their songs listed alphabetically, as opposed to a directory of their albums. Maybe there's a way of optimizing the search better, but I haven't found it. When you have ~13,000 songs on the device, it can be cumbersome. Manual navigation through the filesystem is easy, though. But in terms of sound, it's awesome. Having both a 2.5mm balanced for my iBasso IT03 really brings out warmth and detail, and using high-gain mode with the 6XX is great. There's a normal equalizer, and a 'descriptive' one that's actually really interesting to mess with. The physical buttons for volume, track navigation, play/pause click well, and it charges by USB-C (really quickly) which a lot of yesteryear's best DAPs still didn't have. You're not going to find anything else with these features at this price point. It's going to be missing 24/32-bit support (Not that 32-bit audio matters yet), or it's going to be missing the balanced jack, or it's going to lack the newest codecs, or it's going to cost a lot. If you care about UI, shell out the money for a Sony or an A&K, or wait for whatever Fiio comes out with this year. Otherwise, if you just want a lot of storage and really good sound, it's a good buy.

Have you tried using a stylus? They can be found pretty cheap. And maybe there is one that is magnetically mountable to the dap. Hiby should just make one or implement gesture control.

I don't get it... I can get this from HiBy directly for the exact same price, without waiting a month for shipping. Plus they have all the colors available there. What's the point of this?

So I see this DAC is back up for sale on drop but I thought the whole purpose of buying products from drop is that since we are making a bulk order that we would get a better deal meaning a lower price then what is currently selling for through retailers such as Amazon instead this is exactly the same price if not $10 more than the current sale price of the aforementioned item.

It seems they believe they're at the level of Woot/Amazon and can price their wares above that threshold. Some disconnected leadership at the top of Drop, apparently.

808dreaminit could also be the result of the struggle in a highly growing and fast moving competitive market, but please understand why we were all congregated here in the first place. MASS DROP

True that, going from LDAC/Apt-X support on my LG phone (that had a decent DAC built in, too) to Apple’s “We think AAC is good enough for our users” makes me a little butthurt, but again, the only times I use Bluetooth is when it’s a low bitrate audiobook (cassette rips from the 90s, helll yeah) or when it’s a Spotify podcast.

smithscriptThis is fair, normally I'm bluetoothing podcasts, audiobooks, youtube and such to airpods and am doing so for convenience instead of critical listening lmao

32 ohms? No amp? My LG phone can push to my ATH-R70x headphones, but this couldn't?

KrystalmythI don't get what you mean: 1) 32 Ohms is the load they tested the device with to get the measurements not the recommended (or max) impedance of the hp you could use the device with 2) ANY device that outputs music as analog signal does amplification of some kind 3) the balanced out of this thing should be able to power the r70x just fine

Just $10 more an Amazon with immediate shipping and full support of Amazon. This is not a good deal here on Drop.

Even better. Drop needs to make these deals more attractive, otherwise they will lose business.

Sorry, I somehow missed this and just saw it today while cleaning out my old e-mails. Here’s the thing, sometimes the price on Drop may be better, sometimes the price on Amazon (especially with Free Prime Shipping) will be better, but oddly there’s a third option — sometimes the Drop’s Amazon price may be different (either higher or lower) than their price on Drop.com. So, if trying to price an item, keep those options in mind. Next, an item may have other sellers on Amazon, but they will all likely share the same lowest price as it will correspond to the “Minimum Advertised Price” or “MAP” that is set by the Manufacturer in order to prevent market disruption by all of their resellers trying to out do one another, which is actually very bad for business as it makes it less sustainable and devalues the product for starters! The next thing that I’m gonna share is very important, and that is what happens to a reseller if they choose to knowingly sell below the MAP. They face punishment(s) from the manufacturer for violating their reseller agreement and they could be stripped of being an authorized reseller, e.g. making your warranty worthless as many limited warranties require that the product is purchased from an authorized reseller. Always make sure you’re buying from an authorized reseller, even if it costs a bit more! It’s never worth risking if your warranty could be voided! Here’s what I do. Amazon could change pricing throughout the day, many people don’t know this, but it could vary several times in a single day. So, check it out throughout the day and for a few days or whenever you would like. Buy it sooner if you think it will sell out sooner than later. I also check Google to see if anyone else is selling the item. Obviously, extremely low prices are unauthorized or knock-offs. I try to go with the most viable one. If an extended warranty is an option like it usually is on Amazon I will pay a bit more for it. Buy it on a credit card with purchase protection so if the price goes down you only have to show the credit card company and get your cash back (just make sure you know their terms before doing this). I buy everything on a credit card in case of fraud or even if it’s lost or stollen during shipping, trust me there are far less headaches this way! Finally, check the price after the purchase as it could still change, higher or lower, but if the price goes down a lot — that’s when it’s worth it for you to do something about it! — I wouldn’t worry about $5 or even $10 on an item over $100 as it’s probably not worth your time. If you paid more than $100 and you could save $25 or $30 through an exchange, a swap, a return and subsequently repurchasing, now that would be worth it! This happened to me when I brought my PC37X as the price went down like $30 on Amazon. I purchased on Amazon for the Free Prime Shipping, and though Drop was the seller, I just figured shipping would be quicker. Now I know that if you live in the Midatlantic region, like anywhere in NJ, Philly, NYC, “Upstate” NY, etc., you’ll only have a couple day wait with Drop anyhow. Just keep in mind that I wouldn’t have realized that the item went down by $30 if I wasn’t checking back every now and again. And, that’s how it’s done. ✌️
