I use the gray 500ML ... work, gym, park, bar, home, hiking. The loop is convenient and can be hooked on the move. Don’t have a hook, use a caribiner. The mouth piece takes some getting used to. Fill this bad boy up with hot water and cuddle it up for some extra warmth during cold night, soothes cramps and headaches too. I've frozen water and used it as an ice pack. On my last overnight, I stuffeed inside my pillow for extra support for under my neck, it was cozy. I will do it again.
Side note: Used the 3L bottle as my reservoir with my Katadyn filter and fill up this pack to have on hand. The stream is nice and steady fills this bottle up in 60 seconds. the filter flows water at 1liter ever 2 minutes.
The bottles are good. Lightweight and fold very small. My only gripe is that the bottle openings are slightly too large for water filtration filters. If smart water bottles and so many others are the right size, I wonder why they’d not think of that.
Easy to store... easy to fill. They can get a little pressurized on an airplane, but other than that - pretty awesome little bottles for when you don't need insulation and want to pack light.
Light and packable. The plastic taste did go away for me. My main issues are:
They pretty much never dry. A small mouth combined with a body that you can't keep expanded means there is always some water trapped in there somewhere.
Tricky to fill. They won't stand up on their own, and holding it by the body will collapse it, so you need to hold it by the loop. This makes filling from a water purifier difficult.
Durability? They seem pretty solid for general use, but I doubt it would survive an encounter with a crampon.
Like: Collapsible after it has been drained
Water tight and dont have to worry about any spills
Dislike: Wish they had bigger sizes for people who drink more water
They had a plastic taste which eventually went away. They are easy to transport when empty, but this means they are trickier to fill and manipulate when full of water, which you get used to. Generally I'm happy with the product. Love the colors too.
Have been trying for weeks and the plastic taste just keeps on coming. It instantly taints your drinking water and its not just a slight plastic taste, it is full on. Yes I have tried the Lemon Juice and freezer trick. I now have to evaluate all the other hydropak stuff I purchased and have put aside into emergency kits, because none of it can be trusted to do the job it is sold fit for.
