What is SpaceFN and why you should give it a try
The SpaceFN concept - setting up your space key as a layer switch when held - is probably one of the most useful tweaks in the keyboard hobby. Let me explain how it works. My SpaceFN article on kbd.news made some rounds recently - quite surprisingly given the age of this concept. This piece you're reading is a condensed version of the full post. If you're left with unanswered questions, you'll most likely find the info you're looking for in the original write-up. On my imaginary top list of the most useful keyboard features, tweaks and hacks, SpaceFN would deserve a podium finish for sure. But what makes it so special? In short: SpaceFN is easy to implement, easy to learn, costs nothing, can be used with any keyboard, and can improve your productivity instantly. I will list its benefits below, but can state right at this point that the SpaceFN concept, setting up your space key as a layer switch when held, is clearly one of the most useful tweaks in the keyboard hobby....

One is that the main reason I got ErgoDox was because I had a small surgery recently and traditional keyboard layout hurts my wrists and might be detrimental in the long run. I decided to wait for this as I would have received it mid July. If you have bothered to let us know earlier, I would have got a temporary keyboard beforehand instead and putting up with the pain.
Second reason is I specifically checked for the estimated shipping date, it was at the end of June and I though the biggest delay would cause it to be shipped at the end of July. Now because you are sending it mid August, I don't know where I will be. I currently live in UK but I will probably move to Turkey at the beginning of September.
On top of all this I specifically didn't want to order it to Turkey because there are ridiculous customs fees and I am sure if I were to change my shipping address, Massdrop is also going to charge me an extra.
All in all I am a developer myself and most people here have some idea of what it is like to build something. We understand when a project is late, but showing up in the last minute to say "Sorry guys we will postpone this 1.5 months later and even that's a rough estimate" is not classy at all.
You can get UPS/DHL import it for you, if you email them in 1-2 days, there is no additional fee, they import it in 2-3 days (after you send them screenshots and stuff) and get the item to you a day after, it's pretty practical, but still stressful
The government postage service also let you pay the customs fee at the door, but it's not 100%, 50% you visit the customs office and import it manually, it's pretty practical, takes 10 minutes (the postage delay is generally 1-2 weeks tho, so there's that)
At both scenarios, you need to prepare the invoice and the order email screenshot, the credit card summary of the payment also helps a lot (+ the screenshot of the item/website etc.)
So there is a 20% customs fee, but at least it's practical/doable/achievable
I know I'm not helping much, but just wanted to let you know what to expect
I'd just like to say thanks to Massdrop for making the ErgoDox infinity possible.
