The oldest name in ink production, J. Herbin was established in 1670 by an enterprising sailor carrying sealing wax formulas from his travels in India. After designing specialty ink formulations for such French luminaries as Louis XIV and Victor Hugo, the company became synonymous with high-quality writing supplies. This “Forget Me Not” ink features the brilliant, nuanced color J. Herbin is known for, in an elegant, heart-shaped bottle that makes a thoughtful gift for any fountain pen enthusiast.
Note: This drop contains two bottles of “Forget Me Not” ink in Rouge Opéra and Bleu Myosotis, each in their own gift tin. This drop is limited to 32 sets. At checkout, you’ll have the option of adding an InkJournal to your purchase (+ $16).
Inspired by the passion and drama of the opera, the Rouge Opéra is a darker, dustier red that performs well on a range of papers—more subtle than the Rouge Hematite in J. Herbin’s 1670 Collection, with slight tinges of pink and amethyst. Bleu Myosotis (literally "forget-me-not" blue) is named after the flower of the same name, a symbol of memory and remembrance and the closest color to the traditional blue ink used by every French pupil. Both colors are lightfast and fast-drying, delivering excellent shading, saturation, and flow. This ink is suitable for fountain pens, rollerball pens that fill with fountain pen ink, and dip pens.
The packaging—two 50-milliliter heart-shaped glass bottles with hand-dipped wax seal caps, each carefully wrapped in a tin with a matching ribbon and tissue paper—tells the story of a knight’s last words to his beloved. The romantic legend is included in a leaflet.
Packed with 80 pages of 80-pound stock paper, the InkJournal Black Notebook was created for fountain pen enthusiasts to catalog their pens and inks. Even-numbered pages are laid out with dedicated fields where users can test and record various qualities of the ink and pen, including dry times and water-drop tests. Odd-numbered pages offer blank space for notes, comparisons, and overall ratings. At the front of the notebook are two blank index pages; fill them in as you go for quick reference to the pens and inks you’ve tested. Measuring 8.5 by 5.5 inches, the InkJournal provides space for up to 38 different pen and ink entries, and can be added for an additional $16 at checkout.
