Plexiglass for this much money? I don't care what coating it has. Pass.

HenricvsCouldn't agree more. Plexiglass scratches too easily. Some will say "but you can buff out the scratches", but I want a crystal that doesn't scratch, not one that requires regular maintenance. Also, they're making pretty nice domed crystals these days, so I'm not sure that's a reason to go acrylic.

I appreciate the information. I did not know the reason behind this decision. That said, I have not had good experiences with plexiglass as watch "crystals" and so I'll pass. Design intent notwithstanding.

Is it correct that the watches will be shipped directly from Germany? If shipped to a German address, would that mean no additional tax/tariff will be added?

Of course. However, surely there will not be any import fees on products already made in the EU. Thanks for the answers, Kevin!

xineisSimply it is stupid to import a watch from Germany to US, and then send it back to Germany in order for the Europeans to pay taxes...

Great! Now wait until they start dropping NOMOS Glashutte here.

Actually, I think A. Lange & Sohne and Stowa were the original companies to produce Bauhaus watches. Junghans is older than Nomos, but the Tangente is more true to the original design. Having both, I much prefer the Nomos. The fit and finish is just amazing.

I bit the bullet a few weeks ago and bought a Tangente and it's become my favorite watch. So versatile, elegant and comfortable. I was able to purchase through a German AD with full warranty for about $1250. Nomos watches are even better in person.

I bought the Chrono Version Ages ago great watch. Every 2nd comment on here though is about the plexiglass, its a design choice, it is there for a reason! and it being cheap can work in your favour if you are not DENSE.
After a year I scratched mine so I bought about 5 new crystals for about $2.50 each and the tool to change from ebay for around $10. All the advantage of Plexi (warmth, depth, dome) with none of the disadvantage (not scratchproof). One day you accidently scratch it, five minutes and a few dollars later its fixed.  So stop being dense!
Link below on video of how to change Plexi crytals and lucky you
this exact watch is the example.

Definitely not unique, though certainly there is a dome that can be achieved by plexi that cannot be achieved by mineral or sapphire; and not just in regards to price of manufacture also in regards to how the plexi fits into the bezel, in a press fit. I'd try to explain in more but this video actually explains what I'm trying to express quite well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R21hgz-A7JY.
In regards to the Orient Bambino, fantastic watch! It's hard to compare prices of watches you'd drive yourself insane trying to figure out why each costs what they do; a lot comes down to heritage, design, finish, marketing, who knows - after all mechanical watches are redundant.

Plexi glass watches are probably rarely water resistant. Not exactly used in sports watches - rather in dressy watches. If the watch though has a basic splash resistance 50m or so and if you fit the crystal correctly it should keep its splash resistance

Always wanted this watch but I just can't accept the fact that it doesn't have a sapphire crystal.

wilfredwongI dunno, I don't think that's important in this case. I've had one for almost 5 years, and the crystal is fine. First, this isn't a tool watch. It's mostly for dress. If you're cutting the lawn, you take it off and wear something else. Second, the domed crystal is pretty striking. I'm not sure, but I don't think that can be done with sapphire. Third, if you do happen to scratch it, you can polish the scratch out easily. I haven't had to do this on my Max Bill, but have on other watches. Sapphires are subject to annoying reflections, unless they're coated. The Max Bill crystal is perfectly clear as it is. People obsess over sapphire crystals, but I haven't found it matters much really, unless it's a diver or a tool watch.

Thank you for the info, the next time I visit Sydney, I'll definitely look into it. Plan to replace it with sapphire or at least hardlex. Plexi glass is really fragile.

Will this watch slow down time? Give me back my lost youth? I have been wearing a $9.99 Casio for the last 8 years and it gives good time, never lost a second. So why is this watch such a big deal?
