Great high end starter knives. Before joining this drop, I ventured onto many chefs forums and found that the FKM series is highly recommended b/c you can beat them up and they endure it all. I re-sharpen them every few months but aside from general upkeep, so far there's nothing wrong with them. Great weight/balance and blade length.
I'll probably only keep them for another year or so because I'm bougie and want to get a nicer set of high carbon knives now that I've experienced high quality knives.

Ordered on three separate occasions. All knives in perfect condition, and wearing extremely well. Treated with care, these knives will last a long time, and are an excellent, no-nonsense value proposition. far superior to over-priced 'German branded' knives. Thanks Massdrop.

Love the knife. Good balance and sharpness.
The only drawback is that the steel is prone to rust. This is a problem because I have lazy-ass children that do the dishes. Thus, they will throw this knife in the dishwasher despite me telling them hundreds of millions times to not put large knifes in the dishwasher. I might as well tell them to wash it by hands in Sanskrit, because those MF's don't give AF.

Excellent knife for the price point. Comfortable in the hand, good balance, and razor sharp. This was my first Japanese knife, and while it wont make me give up my Wusthof, i find myself reaching for it more often.

Great knife for the price. Comes VERY sharp, is light and comfortable to hold and use. I took a star off, because the steel is susceptible to getting tiny spots of rust. I hand wash and dry my knives immediately after use and have never had this problem with any other knife even with carbon steel. I own two of these knives and have had this problem with both.

This is probably the best value stainless Japanese knife you can get in its price range and out performs most other knives offered on Massdrop. The strongest points of the FKM line is the decent quality AUS8 steel, a great handle and a generally fairly consistent grind. The price point makes them really good gifts as well. To maximize the utility of this knife, I would recommend learning proper cutting techniques (please don't rock chop) and sharpening techniques with a waterstone. All in all I would highly recommend this for anyone just getting into Japanese knives.

Sharp AF, comfortable handle, high quality of construction. I, personally, would have preferred a slightly taller blade to facilitate picking up chopped items.

kaxixiUpdate 1.5 years later: Still feel the same way about the knife. Great build, comfy handle, stays sharp. Is pretty easy to sharpen. Bought two as gifts and recipients are equally satisfied. Still wish it had a slightly taller blade.

Great knife, especially at this price point. Well constructed and beautifully balanced. It slices tomatoes very thinly. A pleasure to use.

Good solid knives. The downsides; the shoulder where the handle meets the blade can be a bit of hot spot on your hand if you like to choke up on the handle. The steel is good, but it’s not the most stainless of stainless steels.

Excellent introductuin to quality cutlery
This knife is the best bang for the buck around. Super sharp, good edge retention. I would easily recommend this to any home chef.
