Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

they sound best loud(er). it seems anything under the 12 o'clock position tends to lose detail. also noticed these sound better with all computer volume settings at 50%. had them at 100% originally (plugged straight into my motherboard) and would notice distortion/chuffing/rattling from the speakers on certain tracks which was a tad disconcerting. then i rooted around for an extra usb cable to run them through their onboard dac and noticed a definite improvement in quality and a better volume balance (was able to run itunes at 100% volume with better volume control on the speaker itself). anyway, things seem to be running smoothly now. time will tell.
the highs and mids (like most reviews have stated) are definitely the strong point. everything comes out crystal clear (primarily listening to tech/minimal/house as that's what's on my computer). i'm very satisfied as far as clarity is concerned.
also, picked up four of these small doorstops at lowes. they do the trick and help focus the sound towards my ears. was an easy -5 dollar investment. a ton better than paying thirty plus for the audioengine a2 stands.
does anyone find it odd that the volume/power was on the left speaker and not the right? for some reason every time i reach back to turn it off i wind up turning it up instead. weird.
any thoughts? wondering how these will hold up against the audioengine a2+? anyone receive their $10 massdrop coupon?
