This would be ideal for hammock camping. You hang the tarp a little higher than shown here and use the trekking poles to go into porch mode on one side of your hammock. A pretty good basic set up if you combined this with the Ultimate Hammock here for $29.99. Just my observation as a experienced hammock camper.
I didn't even look at the dimensions, you're absolutely right. I stand corrected, this would not be good for hammock camping as my tarp is 144 inches long.
ah that makes sense, I just got a tarp off amazon for 10 and it worked wonders! sheltered me from the storms in the inyos!
For the needed explorer I now understand!
aneducatedbuyerThe weight and packability are the major concerns for me when shopping for a tarp. Every ounce counts, and an off the shelf tarp usually adds weight that I'd prefer to trim. At about 1.5lbs for this tarp, you're getting some great weight savings at this price point. Space also counts for a lot as well. Using something like this means I have more room for food, an extra layer of clothing, or a little booze for the trail.
@Paul321 - poles are not included. A long time ago we offered this tarp as a bundle with some poles, hence the discussion. FYI, the poles pictured in this drop are the Fizan Compact 3.
