The Kershaw Al Mar AM-5 combines aspects of two proven knife industry stalwarts. Though Al Mar knives are traditionally made with a manual opening mechanism, the AM-5 gets a modern makeover in this new collaboration with fellow Oregon-based manufacturer Kershaw. It now features SpeedSafe assisted opening and a flipper tab for quick deployment. The blade is made from easy-to-sharpen 8Cr13MoV stainless steel with black-oxide coating to reduce glare and prevent corrosion buildup. It locks in place via the frame lock. The handle features four emphatic grooves for finger placement. Made from G-10 and stainless steel, it’s grippy and tough enough to withstand the elements. Use the right-handed tip-up clip for carry on the move.
