Product Description
For its size, the Kershaw Skyline is one of the lightest knives on the market. While it measures more than 7 inches overall, the Skyline weighs in at just 2.5 ounces, which makes it effortless to carry and virtually unnoticeable in your pocket Read More

I have this knife. Nothing special, don't believe the "you gotta have one" hype. It's just a lightweight folder and there are many more out there... Ergo's are a bit iffy too: the thumb studs are really small so if you have larger fingers, you kinda pry it open with your nail, not your thumb..

I agree that I knife does not care where it is made, but it is usually important to a woman where she is made. I could make the clearer, but I am under the impression that this is a family site.

14themoneyI have no idea how "where a knife is made" and "where a woman is made" (uh, womand and made?) are in any way related.... Maybe it's just me...

Currently $40.27 on Amazon. So if you are impatient buy it there. If, like me, you have many knives and don't mind waiting a bit to get a new one then you can definitely save a few bucks with this drop.
The Skyline may not be for everyone. It definitely has its fan boys and its haters. Is it perfect? Absolutely not. For the price it is a fantastic little flipper with good ergonomics. It does not take up an excessive amount of pocket space and offers a good length for cutting. This knife is a great over all slicer. Good for camping, good for opening packages or cutting plastic at work. I can't think of a job that a folder is normally used for that the Skyline does not do.
That all said, there are two big negatives. The handle shape is definitely not for everyone. It is on the slender side, if you have large hands it may not fit nice. I can't say for sure because I have medium ish sized hands. The handle works great for me. The other negative is that it really doesn't have completely functional thumb studs. They are more stops than studs, you can use them, but man is it not good.
So if you aren't someone who is into flippers, or you have large hands, maybe pass on this knife. Or wait until you can hold one in person. All around this is a great blade, I have used the snot out of several and gifted several.
This is a good knife. Is it the knife to end all knives? No. Does it have amazing blade steel? No. It has a solid low end blade steel, it is USA made, and is a great flipper. If you are into those things buy one. You should have one. If not, don't. But don't bash this knife for being something it isn't. This is a great EDC knife.

"Different strokes" and "hand size"? This discussion begs for some lewd jokes, but I'll refrain 😂😛

namhodGreat input! All I have to add is that I think I am beginning to prefer flippers, and have large hands. I returned an OKC Rat II, a Kershaw Oso Sweet, and a Kershaw AM-5 because while I liked them, the handles were too small for my hands. One of the things I like about the Skyline is the handle is long enough to fit all my fingers comfortably. I have Cold Steel, Spyderco, Boker Plus, Steel Will, and more, that I love, but this has been my EDC knife for probably close to a year.

This is an amazing knife, at a bad price point unfortunately.
My skyline still fights for pocket time against much much more expensive knives. It is probably my most carried knife of all time. If you don't own a Skyline buy one, just not from this drop. Sorry massdrop.

Respect. Hard carrying any knife and putting it to work always deserves a thumbs up.

If one of my knives doesn't look used it's probably because I don't like it.
Different strokes for different folks man. I like the Skyline, you don't. Lucky for us, there are many many different kinds of knives. If you are a thumb stud lover I bet you like the Rat as a budget folder. Also thumb stud lover sounds kinky.
If liking the Skyline makes me a sheeple. Baaaahhhhhhh.

I would like to see the premium Skylines on a drop (s30v, damascus, carbon fiber). Also, as noted below, this is currently cheaper on Amazon and is pretty much always around the low $30s in price with 2 day shipping. If you could negotiate this to $20, I would buy 10 because I love this knife, but this is not really a good deal...

astampAgreed, esp even better steels. altho would be more tempted to jump on this if at least had dlc. 14C is generally a good, reliable steel

Again, this doesn't seem like that much of a savings. $36 + $4 for shipping makes this drop virtually the same as the $42 everyday, Prime-shipping Amazon price.

I really don't understand Massdrop anymore, things used to be niche and/or at a good price. While the current price is lower then what its currently going for on places like amazon, this was $30 at Walmart a few weeks ago and didn't include shipping.

JonasHeineman, people like Skylines, but an upgraded Skyline is even better.
Kershaw did the 1760S30VCF couple years ago. Now they are doing an M390 Dividend.
Maybe MassDrop could get an exclusive for a 1760M390CF????
I don't know how to get people's attention in here, so @JonasHeineman, @Tyler, hopefully the request can get routed to the right person.

Hmmmmmm...poll been up for awhile, still no votes on it. Not sure how to bump it up and get more views so it can be made a thing. At this point I am ready to give up on the dream and just buy more ZT 0450s...

Trophy_HusbandKershaw has done sprint runs for this model, something in a color other than black is something I would be interested in picking up.

Massdrop is kidding with this one right? Someone got greedy and didn't even check online prices before posting this one.
Great knife, for an everyday price.

Massdrop - Just another online retailer. Go buy this knife at Walmart for the same price or cheaper. Same-day store pickup.

Sure, but it doesn't take an economist or a statistician to realize Massdrop is failing to compete with other online retailers. Which is the whole original point of my complaint that MD has changed to competing with the likes of Amazon, no longer focused on exclusive hard-to-get deals for its' customers.

JeabusNot an economist or statistician no, but actually relying on more than personal feeling and anecdote yes. I've seen plenty of good deals around here even recently so I'm not willing to condemn Massdrop without actual data; confirmation bias is a powerful thing. That said, I'd actually still shop here over Amazon - even if the cost savings were minimal - for the community and smaller vendors working directly with Massdrop. That and not supporting Amazon for a variety of reasons.
We're digressing a bit, how about we discontinue this discussion so we don't hijack this thread.
One of the best of Kershaw's designs and trust me, you won't miss the SpeedSafe.
I'd love to see a sprint run of the Skyline in premium materials on Massdrop: better steel, carbon fiber scales or even just a new/exclusive color of g10 scales.

GentlemanSinI'm personally a fan of Speedsafe, but it's certainly not necessary in most situations, and in some even undesirable. Makes good sense to default to a knife sans assisted opening especially for a first knife, which the Skyline is very suitable for.

GentlemanSinSeems like the Skyline would make an excellent platform for different steels in much the same way as the PM2 is for Spyderco.
