Great news group! The vendor has let us know that the group's order was picked up and is on its way to our warehouse now. Based on the tracking provided these are scheduled to come in 1/14. Our warehouse team has been forwarded tracking info and will be standing by, ready to get these packed up and turned around as soon as they come in.
Sometimes shipments get delayed en route, not to worry as we will keep the group posted throughout the process and notify you all if anything causes delay.
Thanks for your patience and expect an update from us on 1/15 or sooner if something comes up.
The vendor is currently working on preparing the order for shipment. Based on current estimates the bulk order should be on its way early next week. We will make sure to update the group with the estimated date of arrival at our warehouse as soon the order ships out.
Thanks for your patience and expect an update from us on 1/11 or sooner if something comes up.
We are in contact with the vendor and awaiting updated shipment estimates from them. We have a call scheduled first thing Monday morning and should get a bit more visibility in regards to when we can expect these in our warehouse. We will update the group as soon as these are on the way.

Thanks again for joining this drop! With your help we were able to make it successful for the community. We've just submitted the group's order with the vendor for the Kingston HyperX Savage 480GB SSD Sata 3 and they are working hard to prepare it for shipment.
As soon as the group's order is ready at the vendor's location, they will send the bulk shipment to our warehouse in New Jersey where our warehouse team will break it up into individual orders and ship them directly to you! The current estimated ship date from our warehouse is 1/13.
Rest assured that we we will provide you all with updated information regarding the status of your order throughout the process. You can expect an update from us by the end of the day Pacific Time on 1/1.

'Yo dude what are we gonna do for the video' 'We want the gamer audience' 'Got it'
the deal killer here is that you can buy this from amazon at the same price and get it shipped in 2 days (or less, sometimes i get deliveries in 1 day here in NY).
but for those bashing this as an average drive.........please go google hyperx SAVAGE. note there are different versions of the hyperx. this is the SAVAGE.
Again, this is a much better SSD than the 850 evo or anything from crucial, but the problem is that this is a very weak deal since you can get it faster from amazon.
They should implement a thumbs up or down... to indicate whether we know we're getting f'ed or actually getting a deal.... just saying...
The 10$ shipping fee just takes it back to 179.99 for me which is the same price as on Amazon. Except that Amazon ships faster.
500GB Crucial MX200 is for sale on Crucial website for $149.99.
MLC blah blah blah. I got one on Amazon during a lightning deal for $135.00. I realize this isn't the same as a Drop, but it is what I paid for it.
The specs are really similar with a cursory look. The write is only 500 but the Read is 555.
I don't see the added benefit here at the higher price either.
I'm starting to wonder when I'm going to see anything else I actually get excited about here on Massdrop. I'm not the biggest participant and I don't have the deepest pockets. I do like to get quality products though. I'm happy to wait for items too when there's value on the table. Where's the beef?
As featured in hot 2015 finals!
Great News Everyone! I was able to get the community a better price on this drive.
Howdy All, I'm not here to defend or argue the value of one drive over another. I just want to share the info about this drive and allow you to make whatever decision you'd like as informed as possible.
This drive is actually an MLC based drive, which I've posted a link to below for those of you who are interested in learning the difference. In a nutshell, TLC drives slow down quite a bit when reading/writing large amounts of data vs MLC drives. During a 20GB write test with the Kingston Savage VS others including the Samsung EVO, The Savage drive completed the transfer in half the time.
This drive is also provisioned so you'll always have the advertised amount of storage rather than the now more common practice of getting less than expected.

I can get this for $10 more (at best price) with free two day shipping. It's worth the $10 to get it here in two days than to wait the 11 for this drop to be done and to then ship out at some point after. Thanks but no thanks.
@B.Hutch You're kidding right?! Let's see if I understand your reasoning. Kingston vs. 850 EVO - 4% faster read speed, less than 2% faster write speed, 4% LESS space AND over 30% more expensive. Wow, you're right, what a deal!
Lol! Defending the indefensible. Lol!
Hello Everyone, Lets slow down a bit here and make sure we are comparing Apple's to Apple's. You can most certainly find the Samsung 850 EVO 500GB drive for less expensive than this drive. This Kingston drive is their performance drive. In fact this drive out performs the Samsung 850 Pro 512GB SSD drive. Here are some brief specs.
Samsung 850 EVO 500GB - Current Price $149.99 (Amazon) Read - 540mb/sec Write - 520mb/sec
Samsung 850 PRO 512GB - Current Price $229.99 (Amazon) Read - 550mb/sec Write - 520mb/sec
Kingston HyperX Savage 480GB Read - 560mb/sec Write - 530mb/sec
It has also been mentioned that this is high priced for this drive. I can not find it cheaper anywhere else or find a drive with its performance for less. If you can find this Kingston HyperX drive for less please let us know as it gives us more leverage with the vendor.
As far as MSRP is concerned. MSRP is the Manufactures Suggested Retail Price. It is the regular price that is consistently listed on the Manufactures website. At times even the Manufactures will have a lower price listed on their own sites as they do run their own sales and promotions. As of now this is the correct list price or MSRP as it is on Kingston's website.

Hate to be a negative Nancy, but quoting manufacturer declared speeds as fact and then comparing between those, when the product that is offered is not offering a better value than the competition even in that way? Looking at even semi-decent independent reviews reveals the reality of the performance between the drives in your comparison to be very, very different.
This SSD is worth $180, for sure - at a regular retail store. But as a drop here? Not so much, no. The MSRP from Kingston is an unfeasible dream, to say the least.

NewEgg has it for $179 with free shipping. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104553
and it comes with a gaming mouse (Big whoop I know).
I just don't understand these "Deals". Woot.com started doing these "non deals" years ago and it made me never go back to their site.
Still to high..
This is ridiculously high for a TLC based drive right now.

at least get your facts straight before you post useless garbage.
the drive is MLC based, memory is made by toshiba. Also, it uses a phison controller which allegedly doesn't have performance degrading issues like the samsung 850 evo.
Description says you can also buy a 240GB version for -$__ but on checkout this isn't an option.
I don't mean to be that guy, but claimed MSRP from MassDrop is $328 USD while most retailers are selling the SHSS37A/480G model (which I suspect this one is as it's pretty much the only 480GB HyperX Savage in SATA3 2.5" form, at least in PCPP's database) for $185-190 USD.
WhiteWulfe
Yeah Massdrop really botched this one, almost makes me want to leave this site for good.
I feel like this is still priced high. I mean for 135 I got the 850 evo 500gb and assassins creed syndicate for free. I truly don't understand companies and there pricing.
Zeroplanetz
that was a black friday- cyber monday deal (which i took advantage of as well).
but how the hell are you goign to compare a black friday, cyber monday, green monday deal to an everyday? and for the record this drive is much better than the samsung 850 evo. this one compares to the 850 pro.
