It's weighty, and smooth, and beautifully made. The tab requires a little finesse, it's not an enormous prong that can be manipulated any which way, but deployment is strong and consistent. The pivot is nice, and the way the tab lies flush within the frame when open is lovely. The grind is also gorgeous, as is the stonewash. I'm a sucker for Kizer specifically because of understated beauties like this Velox2.

The manufacturing on this knife is pretty much flawless. I have no complaints in that domain whatsoever. This is $200 manufacturing for $100 at the time of this review, and if you new to the high-end titanium framelock flipper market, then this is a steal. (Although the flipper will take some time to get used to, and break in. It works well, it can just be tricky. It deploys better with a push than a flip.) Unfortunately, if you own your fair share of high end knives, it's hard to justify this one. Regardless of the value here. This just isn't that good of a design, or at least, it isn't a design that I understand. The knife is big, heavy and bulky. Shockingly heavy and bulky in fact. The blade stock is very thick (.16"), and not terribly aggressively ground. As a result it doesn't cut terribly well, and the bearings and slightly finicky flipper don't really make sense on a more hard use sort of knife. It also has a recurve, which I'm not a huge fan of. So what really makes this a disappointing purchase for me is not that it is a bad knife, but rather that I can't find any reason to own this knife. It doesn't really have any standout features, other than the price here. Frankly, I don't really think this is a knife designed for me. However, there probably are people that it makes sense for. The low profile flipper, and overall shape make me think that it would be far more carry-able for a much larger person than me (at a skinny 5'11), and if you want a nice knife, for relatively hard use, don't mind cleaning it, and have bigger pockets than me, I think it could work for you.

It's an okay knife. The blade stock is thick, and doesnt have a grind that makes it any more narrow towards the tip. The flipper requires a very distinct button press motion to open it, and any deviation from doing it that way won't really work. It's heavy, and you notice it in your pocket in a not good way. The build quality and finish is good, and the materials are nice, so no complaints there really. When I bought mine from massdrop, the total came out to $88 and change after tax. It's now $125. I personally wouldn't pay over $100 for this knife.

Beautiful knife. Excellent fit and finish. I rate it two stars because opening the thing is such a bear. It would have been 5 stars had the open assist tab been made more distinct. I mean, what good is a knife if you cannot open it easily and routinely?

Handle is too slick, I don't carry it. It's not very practical. The low profile "push" flipper tab is interesting and works well.

It is very good knife for $80 - the price I bought it, but at $125 I'd look at other MD offerings. There is nothing wrong with mine Velox from a mechanical point of view - the blade is centered, the action is smooth. But design decisions about blade shape and grind make the knife inconvenient for me in usage and maintenance.

Reposting my comment: Playing with my Vag today, a little tight, but if you just put your finger in the right place, it'll pop every time... I can understand some of Nick's complaints tho... the tolerances are really critical. There is only about 50-100µm between the blade and scale on one side, and when I close it I hear a little swish of metal scraping metal. I can't figure out exactly where it is scraping. Action is perfect otherwise. The base of the blade is really close to being exposed when the knife is closed. However, I pressed moderately and rubbed my finger and I was not able to cut myself or even feel a point. I don't really see how that would cause any problem for me in regular use. I haven't taken it apart to see how bad the screws are (usually I only give cheap knives the "spa treatment" when I first get them), but they did include two extra small silver screws in the box for whatever reason (they're not the ones with the issues?). Overall I'm happy with the knife for the price and there's nothing about it that would keep me from using it. I like the design. The blade needed to be 0.5mm thinner so it doesn't get so close to the scales, and they should tweak the base so it's not right up against the edge. EDIT: I tried taking it apart and tightening it back up, no problems. No threadlocker that I could find. Tightening up the pivot also got rid of the scrape and perfectly centered the blade between the scales. Nice!

Nice knife with nice materials for a decent price. Only downsides are that the handle finish scratches very easily, and that it is almost impossible to open one-handed. The natural position of the hand has your fingers curl around the knife when holding it right-handed. This causes your fingertips (middle pinky and ring) to put slight pressure on the locking bar of the frame lock as your pointer finger reaches up to actuate the flipper. This very slight pressure on the lock bar has an absurd mechanical advantage over your pointer finger on the flipper, and it is almost impossible to open without leaving a painful red mark on your pointer finger. I undid and redid screws, loosened and oiled everything, and this issue seems purely one with the design of the knife, and the natural grip of myself and everyone else I had try to open this knife. If you know this issue, and intentionally hover your fingertips so they don't contact the lock bar, and maintain friction on the knife with just the palm of your hand instead, it opens normally. It also opens normally with two hands.
