I wouldn't trust Kizer knives... Bought one and the tip of the blade broke off. Massdrop told me it only has a 30 day warranty, so I'm stuck with a broken knife. What stinks is that I actually think it broke within warranty as it happened pretty soon after I got it, but I was a bit lazy about contacting Massdrop.
Going to try to warn everyone when I see a Kizer drop come up.
eksuenI'm sure my vigilantism is going to continually be met by this question. I should probably include the story in the future:
I was trying to cut a piece of plastic off something I was building for my son. The tip knicked, and I mean knicked (I wasn't prying or stabbing it) a screw that was beneath the plastic when the plastic cut. The whole thing seemed super innocuous and I was genuinely shocked. I've never had a knife that was so fragile.
SwayneHonestly, while my experience is obviously limited to one knife, Kizer as a brand seems to me to be 1) twice (or more) the price of Kershaw and 2) a fraction of the quality. Both are made in China and probably subject to these kind of abnormalities, but I don't understand why anyone would want to pay more.
SwayneWhole thing seems like a fluke to me, but it's a shame you didn't manage to get a replacement. Do you have a picture of the broken tip? I've never personally had any issues with Kizer knives.
eksuenCopied the image from the post I put up on the actual product I got - sorry for the low res, my phone is in desperate need of an upgrade. The knife I got was a Kizer Kane. The blade is not dirty because of the incident that broke it, but because of the subsequent menial tasks it has been relegated to.
SwayneI was just curious as to how much broke off. A high res pic isn't necessary and maybe even...pointless.
Have you tried contacting Kizer for their take on this?
eksuenAlright buddy, I'm very self conscious about my phone regardless. People are always trying to throw shade around here, so you have to stay on your toes. Anyway, I haven't - I didn't even think about it when Massdrop responded as they did - so I'll give it a go and see what happens.
