Based on a microcomputer control system, the Klarus CH4S can charge four batteries simultaneously and display the voltage and charging capacity of each. Compatible with anything from Cr123s to 18650s (and everything in between), it consolidates your flashlight batteries in one effective location Read More
This or the Nightcore UMS4? I know the UMS4 is $10 more, but for something like this the cost is less of a factor as hopefully it will have years of service. I am leaning toward the UMS4, seems to have more modes and be more advance but curious what those who are up in all the battery tech think.
That looks like a good choice too, though it can’t charge 20700 or 21700. I don’t have any of those, but who knows what the future brings so I would lean toward a charger that supports a maximum number of battery sizes. Thank you for sharing.
Protected 26650 or 21700 are not all that common yet but be aware this charger's slot capacity is a bit short to handle most of those (71mm, where these protected cells are often 2-3mm longer). Maybe not so good for AAA NiMh batts. This charger has not been changed since the time of this review, according to Klarus last December. Still a good charger but when I was looking to replace a dead Nitecore I passed on this one and went with something else. https://lygte-info.dk/review/Review%20Charger%20Klarus%20CH4s%20UK.html
I ended up with a second Opus C3100, which also died shortly thereafter...so then I got the Miboxer C4-12, which has been fantastic. The visual interface isn't so great on it and it won't do Li-po if that's any concern, but the only thing it doesn't have that I wish it did is a discharge function like most charger-analyzers. But it does show pretty accurate mAh input while charging, so that's useful as long as you note the starting voltage on the cells. It does very well on smaller lithium and NiMh cells, no complaints anywhere, and you can even load it up with four 26650 at once with a 3A rate (which I would never ever do, but it's there)...minimum is 100mAh and you can let it go automatic or choose everything manually. The price on them is about the same on amazon vs. aliexpress, etc., but look for a discount...$40ish is a good price. I considered the Xtar Dragon but it's just so huge. There's nothing really wrong with this Klarus especially if only doing 18650 protected cells...it'll handle those fine since the pro circuit on them is thinner than what is used on 26650. If anything ever goes south, however, it seems I've heard nothing but negative about trying to contact/deal with Klarus after the sale (with lights anyway).
