Product Description
The Klymit Insulated Static V Luxe is a massive camping pad: 30 inches wide, 76 inches long, and a plush 3 inches thick. This pad is insulated with synthetic fibers, a reduced heat-loss design and an ergonomic body map for high comfort year round Read More
Questionable good deal. If you have amazon prime it will cost 77.46 + tax, free shipping. so ~$80.
This deal + shipping will probably take you over that amount.
Muckluck@Muckluck Thanks for joining Massdrop and posting in this discussion. However, as @ManyMountains correctly stated just above your comment about @djohnson64055 mixing up products:
"you're referring to a different sleeping pad. This drop is for the insulated version, which is warm enough to sleep on snow. The other pad is not insulated, so it wouldn't be good for quilt sleepers or generally any time other than summer."
So thank you for highlighting another great deal for a sleeping pad from Klymit, but keep in mind that other one is intended for really warm conditions, whereas this drop is for an insulated 4-season pad (hence the extra weight and cost). If you search for the correct sleeping pad, you'll find it is significantly more expensive elsewhere :)
Please tell me that I'm not the only one here that's kinda pissed off that they make this drop active so shortly after their last drop with Klymit that my Klymit Insulated Static V hasn't even arrived yet and won't arrive until sometime late next week!
This frustration is doubled by the fact that the number one complaint I saw people leveraging on their special team-up with Klymit for the last drop was that they weren't doing the extra-wide pad as well.
I would have gladly paid the extra $20-$30 and waited the extra TWO WEEKS for this drop to go active since I'm a larger male and wasn't even sure if the standard size would work for my bulk.
Yup, two very different pads for very different uses. I'd be happy to have both. The ultralight non-insulated for backpacking where ounces and bulk matter a lot... this one for car camping and camping in colder temps where comfort is more important.
I really like the fact that the ultralight is so narrow that I can fit it down in my bag. I'm always waking up off my sleeping pads.
If the narrow width was a deal breaker, should have waited for something that wouldn't break the deal.
Your right about them mixing up the two pads
V lux insulated and not insulated
Amazon insolated is 107 free shipping
Your price is 89 plus shipping.
How much is shipping?
If its close to 18 bucks i can get it from Amazon when i want it.
What I'm saying is its not a deal especially for a mass drop.
What's up with that!
CouleeClimberreally don't see where you get that, last I checked it was still $107 on amazon.
Amazons prices can fluctuate depending on the seller but generally don't last very long.
Just because you saw a small window where the price may have dropped, don't assume that people don't know how to shop around. I'm betting most people on this site are on it because they know how to shop around.
As of today, March 20th, 2016, it can be found online for $75 total (allegedly free of tax and shipping). That's for the Static V Insulated. The "Lite" can also be found similarly priced. Massdrop can make some great deals, but this isn't one of them.
hushshI have the insulated Static V light and love it, saves you 2/3 of a pound and packs down smaller than a Nalgene 32 oz. The R value of the Lite vs the Luxe is 4.4 vs 5.0 (latter taken from their website) My vote goes to the lite unless you pack in a large rectangular sleeping bag. The Lite fits my Kelty Tuck just fine...
I highly recommend this product. I'm a side sleeper and turn throughout the night. Have had no problems at all, though I recommend inflating it fully (firm) if you're a side sleeper so you get max comfort.
BUT I do not recommend it at this price. I've bought two of them now at under $50 through Clymb when they have their sales every 6 months or so. The prices on Massdrop have never been great for this product.
TasselhoffNever had a problem with mine loosing air. Actually, I have to make sure I don't fill it too full. If I do that, it will be too hard. And it stays that way.
I'm not too heavy (195 @ 6'), but have slept on tent platform with it and never bottomed out even though I sleep on my side. I use the regular size. Like it enough I bought the insulated for winter use. And, for my cold sleeping wife to use.
TasselhoffI used the "light" version as a bed for two months. Only reason it ever deflated was because I wanted to keep switching the air out each week to help combat mold & mildew. I would expect this model to be even more robust.
BurtznellMy "little" brother is 6'4" and weighs 250 lbs. This is the pad I got for him because my ultralight pad would be too small. And, he tends to brake things so the more durable fabric is a plus. Not all things are a one-size-fits all. It's still lighter than many other plus-sized four-season pads, which are actually pretty rare. @Burtznell
devaCan I get a link or screenshot? I googled Static V Insulated Luxe and do not see the deal you're mentioning. Maybe you are referencing the Static V, Static V Luxe, or the Insulated Static V (not Luxe)?
