who is picking these things? wow.
twist locks BLOW on ANY pole. you can keep 'em. have one fail on you (which it WILL happen) and you will be sorry. akin to holding onto a stripper pole over a tank of croc's, eventually your gonna pay for your choice.

I've very excited to launch our first drop with Kohla, an Austrian company that is very well-known in Europe but not so much in the US. These poles are currently only available in the US (and many other countries) through Massdrop. We'll continue to work with them to try to get more poles, climbing skins, avy gear, packs and more. So let's make this drop a success!
I thought I'd share this bit from our friends at Kohla, so you know that you're supporting a reputable, reliable business with old-school values and new-school tech:
Kohla is a family owned business based in the heart of the Tyrolean Alps in the Stubai Valley just just 15 minutes from Innsbruck, Austria. Since is conception in1932, Kohla has been a leader in the design and manufacture of telescopic poles, climbing skins, backpacks and mountaineering equipment, tested and developed right at its doorstep. To this day, Kohla takes pride in sustaining a local workforce and manufactures more than 80% of its products right in Innsbruck at a new state-of-the-art factory.

I know the company from their climbing skins and packs, they make super high quality stuff. I also have a pair of their winter backcountry poles for two years love them, probably the best for rigidity and weight, prefer more over carbon, for a better price. I don't use poles as much in the summer but might grab a pair of these...
