MD price for this is better than a few years ago which is not surprising. For anyone interested, definitely worth getting, especially if one likes the Koss sound though I would suggest changing out the pads more for comfort than anything else as stock pads aren't the most comfortable for most. Otherwise sound scales well with good accuracy across the spectrum. After all, they are good cans made for monitoring.

How these compare to the beyerdinamic dt770's , if anyone knows. Or with let'say the m50x or someother better known things ? Thanks, in case someone answers ☺
For me, the DT770 would be my first choice of the pair for sound profile. They run a very satisfying, if a bit wild, mix of clean extended bass and sparkly, bright highs - very impressive for a closed back of its price point and age. If you can work with the larger size and the extra cost, I'd definitely recommend them.

GiantHeadphoneSquidCool, i already got them, the dt770 32 ohm. I was contemplating at these koss, but people keep saying they have no sound stage so I guess I'll skip them. It seems this design, with flat cups like m50x and these leaves no room for soundstage.

Koss markets these as “flat,” and I keep reading reviews where half the folks don’t think they are flat, and the other half thinks they are. Anyone have studio experience with truly flat headphones?-How do these compare?

Milk-and-CoffeeThese have a great mid to top end of low bass. The bottom low end would be little challenging. Although you'll hear it, but it won't be as pleasing as some bassy headphones. I have had flat headphones [hd 598s ahm ahm], these offer a way better listening experience for the price in every manner for anything available for sub 200 bucks. On top, these are very good on picking up minute details. Once you pick the right volume [neither too high, nor too low] they will definitely please you. That said, the audio source matters. They scale well with good equipment and audio source, which is unlike most others. If you are planning, I will also suggest replacing the cable with a better quality straight cable.
I have medium-sized ears and have no problems with these cans. The pads are comfortable but not especially thick and so they feel closer to my head than other headphones. Not good for hot weather as my ears get too hot in these, but overall I find them comfortable. Sound isolation is exceptional - virtually as good as my AKG's that have active noise cancelling. I find the sound quality on the Pro4-S to be fairly neutral, nicely but modestly extended non-boomy bass, no piercing or shrill upper register. For the price I'm very happy with these. I don't use them much at home b/c I prefer open back cans for quiet environments; I primarily bought them to use in coffee shops and similar public areas where (often bad) music is being played - the sound isolation on the Pro4S is perfect for my use so far. I've read others have had QC problems (soldering), but mine have been rock solid so far.

As others saying ear cup size is not big enough, coiled cable is heavy and connector is a bit longer than normal. Also for me sound is bad. Avoid this headphones

Can someone comment on those headphones vs. Sony MDR-V6? The price is very similar. I have Sony headphones and they offer a very good quality sound but their cups suck. Need to spend money on a new pair of cups every year or so.

Exactly. Comfort was improved, but the sound was totally jacked up. I didn't last 2 minutes when I tried them (The BD pads). Yes, if you wear these regularly and you have oily skin/hair the factory pads will wear out regularly, but they are comfortable and they are relatively cheap and easy to replace.

Compared to the Koss SP540: I thought the two would be very similar, variations on a single model, but they really aren't. I got the SP540s and was really disappointed. They sound fine to me, but the fit is terrible on my very large ears and they just feel physically cheap. These Koss Pro4s on the other hand, feel very nice to me. They are heavier, and while that is clearly not as good from a long-use comfort perspective, they just feel more rugged and "nicer." I like bass and I'll even admit to being a bit of a bass-head. These don't do the bass emphasis that the SP540 and SP330 do, but I think the bass on these is really quite adequate. I don't feel like these need more bass at all. Actually these produced some bass notes that were so full that they had me wondering if I somehow had the subwoofer playing. That's pretty special and not something I experienced with the "bass emphasized" SP540 and SP330. So if you love bass, consider that info carefully. I haven't even had them an hour yet, but so far the sound is very much to my liking. The frequency response seems relatively flat so they aren't "exiting" right away, but I get the feeling that will be an advantage with time, as I expect these to be better for a variety of music styles, rather than just the one style of pop music to which the equalizations of trendy listening headphones lend themselves. These still don't go all the way around my ear the way the better Sennheiser over-ear models do, but they fit on the outer edge of my ear and are quite comfortable so far. The sound isolation on these is very nice. I really feel that these are a whole step, or maybe even two steps, better than the SP540. For anyone who happens to find this review and is trying to decide between the two seemingly similar models, I think I would sum up the two new Koss over-ear offerings of 2014 as follows: Koss Pro4s: ruggedly built, pro style, frequency response curve for critical but enjoyable listening, excellent isolation, medium over-ear cups for medium large sized ears but suitable as on-ear headphones for very large ears Koss SP540: light weight, attractive, frequency response curve for fun listening, very good isolation, small over-ear cups for medium sized ears and smaller 2022 - I am still using these regularly and I like them more today than when I first got them. I think they're really well made and the sound quality is so good that you start to appreciate how detailed and balanced they are the longer you use them.

AnnndyThanks. I’ve just ordered a set of Pro4S and found a set of 540s for cheap. I had ordered them but your review just persuaded me to cancel the order, they don’t sound like a better alternative to the Pro4S much at all

Received mine. Great isolation, sound is typical for monitor headphones Ear cup size is not big enough to go around the ear. They are mostly on-ear for me and so ears get sore after a while Earcup shell is metal while headband and yokes are cheap plastic. But it helps weight to be low and helps comfort I would have preferred a straight cable instead of the coiled one it comes with

I received mine with right ear channel cutting in and out as you move your head. Sound quality and isolation are good. Looking to use these to carry around but because of the right ear cutting in and out its not suitable for me. Now I have to see about exchange or return and that will probable Mass Mess I am not looking forward to.
Update: Sorry for the delay was going through Cancer treatment took a lot out of me. I want to let everyone know this was happening on both right and left input jacks. I have voided the warranty by opening them up and found poorly soldered connections on both jacks. I was able to make the repair and they are working fine now.

DaddyDiBsI'd bet Koss will still honor the warranty. They have the best warranty in the business and I've never had any issues with repairs replacement even when I caused the damage.

OCBobI as mentioned earlier I repaired the headset. I eventually gave them to my 15 year old nephew...in less than two days he had them torn to pieces. Kids these days do not value anything except their gaming console. Sad but true.
