I’ve very tempted but… I have a Lamy al-star in vibrant pink and it functions poorly. Very scratchy when writing and the nib leaks ink all over itself. M nib not bad enough to drip all over the paper but not a fan. Been using it with the original blue cartridge that it came with.
I have a Kaweco Sport Classic that is the same way. I actually have the Lamy apart right now because the ink was clogged because I didn’t use it.
I just tossed it in a draw and abandoned it.
I’m new the fountain pens. If it wouldn’t have been for a right choice painting company with a Bock nib in F I would have probably not perusing this hobby so much, I love that pen.
Not sure If I got a lemon with the Kaweco and the Lamy.
I'm tempted to try again here.
Really?!? So exorbitant price just for the sake of it. Meh I'm stupid and have no self control I ordered the blue (F) and the metal finish (EF) from the drop. If they suck I'll never by another Lamy pen again. Well see.
Thanks for the info Kittens.
I've purchased many things from Amazon; bad packaging it rare, but returns are easy. This is an inexpensive pen so you exposure is pretty minimal. I would note that Amazon managed to get a pretty large television to me without issue, so I'd be ok ordering pens from them.
wizardofawThey could but it wouldn't be helpful. Everybody uses different kinds of paper and inks.
I have several Safaris and they're all great writers on most papers. I like black ink, but Lamy's not the darkest of them, so I don't use it. It dries very quickly, though, so if the color's not an issue for you, it's a great ink.
You can compare various Lamy nibs here: https://www.gouletpens.com/pages/nib-nookLooking at the table at https://www.nibs.com/content/nib-tipping-sizes, I recon that a Lamy Steel M nib lays a line in the 0.4 - 0.5mm range.

I'm asking because I've read in other forums that these special editions are coming with additional items. I can't infer tone, but "silly" seems rather presumptuous. If it's the standard product that could be purchased from another retailer I patron then I'd rather purchase there.
KimmieTheChEIt is intended to be presumptuous; I presume it's $24 pen and that sleeves are of very little value in the grand scheme of things. If you can get it faster at your local dealer, you should! Life is too short to wait for slow-shipping pens.
I got mine with a pre-order discount on EndlessPens for $18.32, just arrived last week! I just checked and they have them for $20.35 with all variants:

This is still a good deal though, if you're scared of shopping with online retailers, I buy from EndlessPens a lot and so far so good. They are new, but I've found them to be very responsive and not sketchy at all
PenChick87I have also ordered from them several times and had excellent service. One of my packages was temporarily lost by USPS and they refunded the entire price. (I ended up getting the package and voluntarily paid them back after they refunded me).
