"...one of the best headphone amplifiers available below $500."
Blasphemy! What is more transparent than transparent? No amount of money could possibly provide a better listening experience. After all, all headphones present ideal loads and behave identically under load. And only a prima donna would want to use a 1/4" plug without an adapter (because all proper 'desktop' headphones have 3.5mm plugs) or want to have the power cable exit from the back. After all, sound quality is the only important criterion when judging audio equipment.

headphonedudethe lack of 1/4 for input and output is actually really annoying. It won't change the sound quality it just means less things breaking.

headphonedudeThere are plenty of things that can be done to improve sound quality and transparency,. For $500 you can get good stuff, but you can get better stuff for more. Things like for example better power filtering. For example when you use a switch mode power supply like a wall wart on various amps it produces artifacts in the high frequency known as "switching noise". This noise is visible on an oscilloscope so it is something that cannot be denied. Just one common example. If there was really no way to get better sound, then why is there an O2 revision B that improves on the revA? Anyway, the kind of performance you get just depends what you want to spend.
Also, not sure why you think headphones all provide ideal loads, they do not. Impedance changes with the frequency and loads are constantly fluctuating.

NyquistRateI thought it was obviously sarcasm... Poe's Law strikes again.
I was just anticipating the O2 circle jerk and trying to point out some of the 'flaws' of the amp. I actually own two, one standalone and one O2/ODAC combo. I'm currently using the O2/ODAC for my gaming rig, and it does fine. I used it as my main music amp for maybe a year, but I rarely use it for music anymore, as I don't like the sound compared to other amp/DAC combos I own, especially for planars (and... cue people telling me I'm imagining things because it has no sound in 3... 2... ).
