Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

I thought I'd share my thoughts on this, albeit the only thing I can compare it to is my computer audio - an Asus ROG Strix Z270i, with a Realtek S1220A codec (DAC?) and Texas Instrument RC4580 and OPA1688 (op-amps) .
My headphones are Sennheiser HD6xx, HFM HE4xx, and Philips Fidelio X2.
First off the bat - the computer audio is terrible, and I didn't realise how terrible it was until I was able to compare it to the O2+SDAC. What is terrible is that the music seemed unbalanced. Certain instruments sounded louder than others, or perhaps it's that certain sound frequency seemed to over-ride or muffle others. And there appears to be audible jitter.
On the other hand, listening on the O2+SDAC seems to balance, smooth, and make each instrument in the music more clearer. For example, the instruments that I noticed are: - cello, which sounded more vibrant as if I can hear several different vibrations of the string. Same goes with violin and viola. - timpani (the big drums in orchestra), which sounded punchier. Same goes with other drum instruments. (I'm sure there's more, but hadn't had time to really look into it)
As for how the O2+SDAC sound on each of the headphones: - HD6xx: Removes most of the Sennheiser veil, making classical music sound smooth and balanced, and an enjoyable listening experience. - X2: Makes mid-bass (where its strength is) sound clearer, but vocals still sound recessed (V-shape freq. response). - HE4xx: The harmonics really start to shine through on a good recording, probably because it allows volume to be increased to comfortably loud levels (couldn't on the computer audio).
