Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

2. Re-intall the window 7 OS .
3. Good luck.
But yours is from Massdrop, and I seriously don't know why people are asking you to contact JDS. I really can't understand why.
Just because I point at a street andsay "This is Oxford Street" doesn't mean that you are obligated to walk down it.
Quoting the page itself
"Massdrop contacts the vendor directly on behalf of the group."
Other products where they go through other manufacturers and act purely as distributors will not have 'Massdrop' in their titles, while collaborations would have something like 'Manufacturer X Massdrop' when it's a joint effort. Warranties in these cases will be handled differently. But for this case, the warranty for 'Massdrop ODAC' will be handled by Massdrop and only Massdrop alone.
Putting their name in the product is essentially branding this product as theirs. This is not explained in the 'How it works' page but you would know this if you know how MD and distributors work or how businesses work in general.
EDIT: If you want the most basic, elementary example to understand this since you don't, you can look at Amazon for example. They are basically a distribution center, where they distribute an sell products manufactured by other companies to customers. Do they brand these products with their own name? Of course not, that would be ridiculous. You wouldn't see products like 'Amazon Objective DAC' or 'Amazon iPhone 6' because they are not involved in manufacturing and only distribute these products.
Now, just look at the Amazon Basics product line. They obviously are involved with the manufacture of the Amazon Basics line, and either own the manufacturer or manufacture it themselves. Branding these products with their own name means that it is their product and that they are responsible for it. So any warranties, etc. would be handled by them.
This is actually a fairly simple and basic concept about business. You can't just simply associate your company name to a product you distribute, that is not how the world works my friend.
The beginning of the conversation looked into how to solve "Tech issues", which is not something in which MassDrop is capable of. When the name of JDS is mentioned and asked by someone else (I.E: not you) I provided information on how to find them.
Repeat: I did not say "Go talk to them", as you seem to have read from twisting my words around.
I provided more information on JDS because they have a known track record of providing troubleshooting, and tech support towards fixing issues with ODACS. It would be pointless to replace an ODAC through warranty just to realise that the PC itself is the issue, would it?
I'm not even talking about that anymore in my previous reply anyway, I'm just trying to tell you that Massdrop is not just a distributor as you seem to think. That's it, plain and simple. I'm not twisting your words around, you clearly said that MD is essentially a distributor, not a manufacturer, and I'm telling you otherwise.
I don't think there's a misunderstanding. It all comes down to the fact that for some reason, you seem to think MD is still just a distributor even though they branded this product as their own. Let's not continue this conversation anymore as you're trying to shift the focus when all I talked about in my previous reply was regarding your comment starting with 'Secondly, MD is just a distributor'.
Good day sir.
"Sorry, JDS Labs has neither supplied nor endorsed Massdrop since 2014. All 2015 O2 and ODAC assemblies from Massdrop are Chinese assemblies and we have no specific knowledge of their design choices."
So there you go. I emailed MassDrop regarding this (mostly to express my dismay but also to get some direction in case i encountered problems with the unit) but have yet to get a reply. To repeat, this is not a "JDS Labs ODAC Rev B" as I had previously thought but rather a "Massdrop ODAC Rev B". Not really sure if everyone else was aware of this but I just thought I'd put it out there.
If anyone has both MassDrop and JDS versions (or know of others who have the JDS version), maybe you could A/B the two? How does what we have compare to "the real thing"?
