SegaGen3sisEither Mayflower or JDSLabs. I have the JDSLabs one - got these in the very early days where I didn't know Mayflower exited.
There's probably no difference between the two. Just pick the one with the better price or looks better to you.
If you haven't bought either yet, think about an ODAC+O2 combo. It has a built in DAC in the same form factor.
SegaGen3sisActually the DACPort HD by itself sounded surprisingly good with the 6XX. Give it a try before picking up an O2.
My Schiit Magni 2 did bring about a small improvement though. Up to you whether it is worth an extra $100.
SegaGen3sisYou're not going to need any more power than a Schiit Stack, though a higher end AMP/DAC will always improve your experience, you won't be sorry going for the Schiit Stack, should be = or maybe a little better than an O2, if you want to step it up more and match the price of an o2/odac, you should go with the Audio-gd NFB 11.28 it's a fantastic AMP/DAC that will compare to far more expensive options.
briank6932I respectfully disagree.
I see Schiit as quantity over quality. They output loads of power, but fall short in the quality department. Listening to a Schiit Modi/Magni side by side to a ODAC+O2 combo, the difference is slight with the combo sounding more natural.
To get the most out of the HD6XX, Schiit Jot on balanced, or a Valhalla would suffice. But for the same price I'd look into a Violectric or Lake People. Audio-gd is the better option, but it's a lot more expensive.
Schiit market themselves well, they have a crazy following with people who haven't sampled much variety. Thus you'll get more recommendation for Schiit than anything else on forums.
JackulaYou are right, about quantity over quality, but his post said, "Don't want to spend a lot on amp and such atm", The Jot is great, and so is hpa4-bl, and Aune S6. The Audio-gd is not much more, it's only $100 more than a Schiit stack and the price really does pay off.
