Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

If you take a weak amp, and feed it a signal that reaches its full input sensitivity, it will output a weak signal. If you boost the input, you get the same weak output, but now with horrible distortion. Grab an amp with some actual power and you'll solve this problem. As mentioned, even cheaper offerings will help with the biggest issue you have, which is purely lacking power. Better amplifiers will net better sound through these though once you've overcome the lack of power issue.
This type of difference is extremely common in full sized speakers as well. An Infinity Kappa 9 will destroy a lot of amplifiers. A Klipschhorn will run on almost anything. Knowing a bit about the speakers will tell you what you need. When getting better gear, it usually requires a little bit of research as to what you need to make it shine.
I'd suggest starting with a Schiit (yes it's pronounced like you think it is) Magni 3 and Modi 2
Get this reddit nonsense out of here
take note - the magni 2 however is significantly diff hence they have been phased out
As I said before, "The differences are very small if you don’t need the extra power, but they’re certainly not identical."
I concede that my staements at that time come across as unfounded and erudite.
but - as you've rightly pointed out the difference is a slight increase in power. My q would be that is the slight tweak material? i.e. were there some known issues within the uber which required a small but significant tweak to call it a perfect product?
the reviews see to indicate so and the pricing certainly is attractive for what it can do. (but then again the uber was priced similiarly)
there is however a inherent tweak within the model that is not a flaw but requires the owner to really spend sometime tweaking something that is perhaps the Apple equivalent of amps (i.e. works perfect out of the box)
the following review indicates that Schiit has at least met the expectations. However the "flaw" makes me wonder if the new version is actually better than the uber 2.
tldr if the uber 2 was still in production would there be enough justification to buy the magni3?
Honestly though, most good amps have a sound of their own, whether that is significant or not, and if this $100 amp doesn’t do it for you, there are a lot of others at this budget and others that allow for you to find that sound you actually want.
Me, I don’t really like Schiit’s usual sound. The multibits are supposed to be closer to my tastes, but even so, there are plenty of alternatives that are likely to hit the mark more consistently. The, as you said, Apple option, is something many stray from when they‘re trying to meet more discerning tastes. Schiit’s entry level is certainly not going to be to everyone’s tastes.
