Is the shiit fulla 2 sufficient enough to power this.If not what DAC/AMP combo should i go for that is under 200$ if possible

AzeendeenYes it can drive these. I am deciding between that and the Micca OriGen G2. Fulla 2 delivers 40mW of power at 300 ohms and from the sensitivity data 25mW is enough to get the HD6xx to dangerous noise levels.

AzeendeenFulla 2 is not enough to drive these, this has been discussed many times before. It will be a good piece of starter gear but won't be able to supply enough juice to the HD6XX at normal listening volumes.
Under $200 you'll be looking at Magni+Modi, O2+ODAC or Aune x1s. The Schiit stack will have enough power to drive anything, the O2+ODAC and Aune will have better clarity. Aune has the best mids out of all 3... I don't like the O2+ODAC or the Schiit stack much.
There are other $200 options I'm sure, but I haven't listened to them to give any objective advice.

JackulaJackula is correct. Did some more research and the HD6XX has a 500+ ohms spike on the Bass side. Better go with the recommendations provided.

AzeendeenThat's a pretty decent combo right there. I currently have the Schiit Stack 2 Uber and am using my 6xx as I type this. The combo sounds really nice. BUT, a Jotunheim w/balanced DAC down the line would be real sweet for these!

AzeendeenFor me the ultimate 'end-game' for these headphones is my audio-gd NFB-11.28. I will probably never buy another amp, at least no other solid state amp.

FrankDrebinIf everything you listen to is from a digital source them I would agree you. However the problem I have with the NFB or R2R is no RCA inputs, for a turntable or other analog source. Call me old fashioned but I still like listening to vinyl from time to time.

AzeendeenHere’s a tip for good enough amp to drive headphones. If your knob is needed to turn more than half way to hear comfortably(Assuming source is 90% Plus in volume), you need a better amp. Anything under half of the amp knob, you are set. My setup is “Aune T1SE MK3” as DAC(AMP part used for speaker, cool how I flip the switch and only my headphone is on, assuming no RCA input) and “DarkVoice 336SE” w/tuberoll. My amp only need 1/4 knob to run comfortably with PC source at 90% volume.

AzeendeenId go for the alternative if i were you. Most of what ive heard feom schiit was really bad, the magni 2 included as ive owned it. Id go for that 02 odac or maybe an old headroom amp

AndrewX58thx for the tip.Yeh I started watching some reviews and was told that. And that on the shiit fulla 2 when you turn the nob to like 10 o clock the sounds start to get a little distorted

zcSchroeri will check the O2 odac which im assuming is a dac/amp combo. If i were to go for a headroom amp i will get a DAC to go with it but im not sure what is a good DAC to begin with

Azeendeenif you're looking at different O2 models be careful to get the one you want. if you don't need the dac portion then just getting the amplifier portion can save you over $100

AzeendeenAssuming if you only have HD6XX as daily driver. You'd want warmth from DAC. HD6XX is all about that warmth lol. And open-back headphones are best with Tubes(Unless go solid state if you plan to listen to rock music as tube can't do all the filtering for the rock music). But that is just in my opinion of my liking. Mainly the reasons why I got the Aune DAC/Amp because the T1 is more of a DAC than a Amp. Even better, the DAC uses the Tube! I'm just giving you the information of what I've learned and also had the money to buy these and tested for my own, loved it. I had the Amp before the DAC and my headphone sound just the same like any other headphone, just better at providing power to the HD6XX. The DAC definitely amplified the music in term of sound quality. Doing my HD6XX's justice, removing all obstacles for full potential of the headphone. But do keep in mind, my equipment are just entry level but buying any more expensive aren't that big of an improvement when comparing the price/quality ratio. So if all you had is just under $200 to spend, I'd highly recommend the Aune T1SE MK3 for $193 after tax from massdrop if it drops any time soon. It comes as a DAC/Amp combo, and the amp is enough but not as great as the DarkVoice I have.

AndrewX58What're your thoughts about the Quad DACs in a couple of the newer smartphones? (LGV20/30, LG G6)

AndrewX58shit man, thx for the info. For now im thinking about just saving up my money to increase my budget to 300.Because to be honest im in no rush.If spending 300 instead of 200 can make a huge difference in sound im all for it.But now that you said this , i will reconsider lol .

KissMyJonassThe Quad DACs are practically useless for impedence below 50 ohms. Adaptors for increasing impedence are a must for earphones or you can move into higher impedence headphone territory. It’d be great for HD6XX, even much better than what is included in any onboard PC.

AndrewX58I'm currently listening with my PC volume at 15%, so it seems that my Alienware is more than suitable to drive them. However, I am wondering if I get a DAC/AMP, it would sound better. Do you think it would help much?

sngf1owDefinitely. But since your Alienware can get them loud enough, I think you should get a better DAC and amp rather than start with a budget pair. Unless, the 6xx sound horrible out of the PC itself lol. In that case, just get a Fulla 2 or something to at least help you out a bit

chuckolatteThanks for the advice. They sound pretty decent. I don't have any complaints, but it's not mind blowing, which leads me to believe these cans have so much more potential from what I hear. I am new to the whole DAC/AMP game, what do I get first if I am to get them separately, or do I need both, and when you say 'better' sets, are you talking about other stuff than what a lot of people are recommending (O2 or Schitt stack)? Any recommendations?

sngf1owOk so, you could go for a separate DAC and amp altogether, or you could go for a DAC/amp combo. At the moment, I am using a Schiit Magni 2 Uber/ Modi 2 Uber. This is like, a middle ground for both (between budget and high-end). For a DAC, I like my Modi 2 Uber and I think it's enough for the foreseeable future. My Magni though, I'd like to get a Jotunheim w/balanced DAC in the future. What I meant by the Fulla 2 is a budget DAC/amp that will JUST ABOUT do the job, but nothing else. In your case though, I'd wait till you can get yourself at least a Schiit stack or something similar. Only then will you see a noticeable difference in both power and sound quality. And yeah, the 6xx have MUCH more potential lol
