Shipping Update for July and October Orders:
Updated 12/11:
Fulfillment for July and October orders is complete (aside from a handful of orders requiring additional attention). Looking forward to you all receiving the HD 6XX!!
Updated 12/7:
We have received the latest batch of headphones from Sennheiser, and we are continuing to fulfill the remaining orders in the July drop. This batch is large enough to complete the July shipment, as well as start fulfilling some October orders.
Shipping out all July orders is our first priority, and as this wraps up there will be some movement in the October orders.
Thank you all for your patience as we work on getting these headphones shipped and delivered by Christmas!
Shipping Update for July Orders:
Updated 12/4:
I have a quick update on the HD 6XX shipment for July orders. About 6,000 headphones have shipped and we are expecting another batch of headphones to arrive from Sennheiser this week. The units will go through quality control checks and will then be prepared for shipment.
We are on track to meet our estimated ship date, and we’ll update you all next week with the latest status. Thank you for your patience!
Updated 11/27:
As of today over 5,800 headphones have shipped, which is about 63% of the drop. We are expecting another batch from Sennheiser to arrive next week. Once this next batch arrives the headphones will go through quality control checks, and will then be prepared for shipment.
We'll continue to ship out the headphones as we receive them, and I’ll provide an update next week with the shipping status.
AveryCIf I'm correct in thinking the October drop is up after this July drop then these are shipping out right on track. The estimated Christmas delivery was on point.
AveryCI ordered on 7/11 and received an email on 11/16 telling me to update shipping info by 11/19. Am I correct that if I've yet to receive a shipment notification then it won't go out for another week?
jonasjschreiberThat isn't the shipping notification, you would get a seperate notification when yours has shipped. It isn't a 100 percent change that yours will get shipped next week, but they likely will.
AveryCMan, the amount being shipped per week seems to be really sporadic. Last week, only about a thousand shipped. This week, more than six thousand. Idk what to say, but well done! I await my October drop lol
chuckolatteActually, I think it has to do with their QC. If they receive a shipment on Monday and it takes say a day or two for them to go through the shipments, then there would be objectively less headphones shipped that week by the time the weekend rolls around whereas the following week would just be filled with fulfilling orders.
AveryCWoohoo, great job guys! And I'm still clinging to that little straw of hope that they arrive before Christmas... According to my experiences with Austrian customs that's not very likely though.
Gsh2000I hope that's the case, so I'm hoping the next batch will finish off July, so in ~2 weeks I hope to have gotten a tracking number for my headphones from an Oct 15 order. *crosses fingers*
AveryCI ordered on the 28th July, so I will receive before the 18th December original ship date. Why would it go through Quality control? Would it not have already gone through Sennheiser systems based on massdrop requirements.
AveryC@AveryCGood Day Kind Sir!
I ordered my HD6XX on Jul 29, 2017.
Not quite sure from your shipping post as to where I sit as I am included within your mentioned dates?
Am I lucky enough to be up next for shipping? Can I start becoming excited?!
Thanks for leeting me know
GirfsterIf you've ever received a package from Massdrop on the same speed it will likely be similar, or if you've gotten a package from their region from other companies it will be similar.
Though if it's FedEx "Smart"Post then that can vary since they pretty much put packages on after regular speed shipments are loaded, so if there isn't much space on the trucks, you wait longer. I kind of wish places would use UPS SurePost more since now after a few years it's pretty much ground service plus an extra day, the day you'd normally get it on ground, the USPS would get it for the handoff and deliver it the next day. FedEx must give better rates on smartpost than UPS does on surepost or else smartpost would be dead.
Brosefstalin42Oh ok, this is my first massdrop order, I am super excited. Tracking has not updated, but this is just me being impatient, it will get here when it gets here : P
AveryCA buyer reported that his unit was shipped from Germany to Denmark, is that true?
In that case, will that be the norm for all purchases made from EU?
FireballPTNot sure, it is still coming from America.
America->Germany->other EU country.i am just thinking of it this way, even if it does get caught by customs there is still small discount left compared to the hd650.
AveryCI finally have my Massdrop x Sennheiser HD6XX on my hands after 5 months of waiting. This is my first ever Massdrop's purchase, and I like the headphones so much.
- Order on 29 June 2017
- Shipped out from New Jersey on 18 Nov
- Received at Ezbuy's warehouse at Beaverton, Oregon on 28 Nov ( Using FedEx SmartPost)
- Arrived at Singapore on 3 Dec
- Delivered to my selected Ezcollect point on 4 Dec
- Collected my long-awaited HD6XX on 4 Dec
For those who wants to purchase the HD6XX but living in Asia, you can consider using a forwarder shipping company to ship your item to your country.
Overall, I spend a total of SGD $302 (USD 224) to have the HD6XX, including forwarding charges.
Hypnauticawell you're at the tail end of the July drop aren't you? i have a feeling that when the next batch of orders come in from sennheiser it'll probably be the remainder of the July order and maybe some of the October if we're lucky. although i'm just guessing here..
chuckolatteDoes anyone know if the Assembly and Shipping will go on during the December period from Sennhiser side.
I actually joined the November Drop and am hopping for a early new year surprise instead of the estimated March shipping :)
AveryCWith all the hullabaloo about early shipping, I still have not received word that mine is even close to shipping. Looks like I will still be closer to the mid-December ship date originally planned. Sure hope you haven't forgotten me. Wishing all an early Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
deepsWell I ordered mine back in june/July and they still haven't arrived or even been shipped so I highly doubt the November drop will be coming before then
OnyxAUYea... I ordered mine back in July too. When people started getting them so early, I was hopeful..but looks like it may be closer to the original 3rd week in December. I wish they would let those of us still waiting know approximately when we might get them.
deepsThe issue isn't with the assembly but with how long it takes Sennheiser to receive the materials to make the Massdrop version of these headphones. The March date might be because Sennheiser isn't getting the supplies until late January or February.
AveryCI don't suppose you can say about how many are left from the July purchase after the 6000 that have shipped out. I purchased late, so I know I'm one of the last in line, but I'm still getting antsy XD
AveryCAny update to those who ordered in October? Are they still on track to meet their shipping date before Christmas? A little concerned because if the July orders still haven't gone out...not sure what the October orders are looking like at this point...
dahn626I ordered July 26th and have heard nothing. I'm fairly certain mine will ship out this week, since I've seen posts where people ordered on the 25th and have already gotten their headphones. Hopefully, the shipment they're getting will cover the rest of July and a good chunk of October.
DavidErickssame. I cant complain because im sure they will ship before the original ship date but im a little sad I got the last group of shipments. =[.
AveryCFinally got my shipping notification!
Hopefully will get here before Christmas.
For those still waiting, ordered on July 26th and received it today (Dec. 7th)
AveryCAvery so not all October's drop will not be fullfilled before Christmas? Some people got their shipping tracking and notifcation already and I also did the drop same day as them on Oct. 13th. Will I be getting a notification and shipping tracking today?
DavidEricksYea it does seem a little odd. I'm sure it's fine and we will get shipping info today but it is a little frustrating seeing people who ordered in October getting shipping info before we do.
E111I ordered July 26th. I know I wasn't early in the July drop, but I ordered 4 days before the end. I do appreciate the sentiment though. I'm sure I'll get tracking either today or tomorrow.
FarkoHow can you check which buyer you were?
I checked my emails on October 13th at 7:00AM Central Time and when I saw the drop was out again, I immediately snagged me a pair.
chuckolattei don't think there's really a way to check it you kinda just got to remember where you were in line when you join the drop. i'm pretty sure i joined the october drop when there was less than 1000 people
Gsh2000No clue when I was in the line but I do have the email of joining the drop on Oct 13th, 12:43PM PDT.
The email might be a good way of determining the approximate place in line.
JishengGot my shipping notification overnight, but when I try to click on fedex tracking, the order is not found...I'm sure I just need to give it time, but we'll see
chuckolatteI am so psyched...got word this morning that a shipping label had been created with actual shipping sometime later today. Does anyone know where Massdrop ships from? My shipping email link indicates they may be shipping from Edison, NJ. Regardless...hoping to see my Sennheisers by sometime next week. Ordered in late July...
AveryCGOOD NEWS! It's en-route as of 12PM EST today.
BAD NEWS... It's coming on DHL, the worlds worst shipping company. Pray for my headphones people. :(
AveryCI got my shipping confirmation! Now I can't stop refreshing FedEx's website and checking on Google Maps how far their last location is from mine... I know, it's crazy but I'm so glad to know they are coming before I expected :D
Thank you Massdrop!!!
AveryCSweet! Just got my tracking number! Purchased Oct 15. Based on past shipping history, I should be getting this next Friday, or possibly the following Monday. So looking forward to these!
AveryCHeadphones shipped to Spain (October drop, 10/15)!
Let's hope to receive them without any problem with customs :S
With a bit of luck I will be a happy new owner of the amazing Sennheiser HD 6XX just for Christmas. Thank you Massdrop! :)
AveryCHi, does anyone know how the payment for customs and taxes are done? I probably will be on vacation when it is delivered. usually the deliverer gives packages to a neighboor when ones arent home, but as there is a payment has to be made, then ...?
GLS1SHIPPED!!!
What a fabulous email to receive. July to December is a very long time, but when I pay for them to get through Customs (savages....), are delivered into my loving hands....(sounds like a new child coming into the family!) Opened, inspected to make sure all looks well made, cables have a solid connection etc etc as I would expect from Sennheiser plus good quality control and then hook them up to my Jot....At that point, The order will be complete lol!
Good luck to everyone else...Keep us updated :)
AveryCHey hey,
Anyone else in Ontario, Canada with their headphones coming on DHL? I just wanna know if I'm sharing this torture with anyone else.
- Cheers.
E111Money is the least of my concerns. I've just literally never had anything but a total nightmare with DHL. To call their employees incompetent would be an immeasurable understatement.
GrimxxdiabloWhen did you order cause mine has taken 3 days to move 34 minutes down the road from Edison, NJ to Secaucus, NJ where it has sat for 24hrs as “processed“ without continuing to move toward Canada. Thanks a bunch DHL.
HypnauticaIf it's any consolation, mine has been in transit from fedex to the post office in the same town for 3 days, in the states. The buildings are less than a mile from eachother.
HypnauticaMight just havve been there because of the weekend? I just got the update this morning that it got into and shipped from mississauga it was in secaucus for a few days to and i ordered july 28th
GrimxxdiabloMaybe, I'm still waiting for that update though ... mine says the are still in the Secaucus wearhouse, ordered on the 31st though. I'm sure they will get here eventually. I'm just super hyped that's all. I've had my Schiit Jotunheim and even the balanced XLR cables for the HD6XX just sitting here waiting for ages. Day after day buying more and more WAVs of the dreamiest ethereal techno ... just awaiting the moment when I can fade away and become more headphone than man.
Grimxxdiablo"hopefully" haha ... I'm upgrading some V-Moda M100s ... you have nothing to worry about. Cept maybe having to pick up little pieces of your brain off the floor after they leak out your ears when these cans melt your noggin.
AveryCNice!! . and now that the Oct orders are done, do we know if there is any shipment for Sennheiser next week? Am from the Nov drop and wanted to know if i would be getting a surprise new year gift :D
deepslmao they will definetly not start shipping november orders 3 months ahead of schedule. they still have to build the headphones and run them through QC.
deepsExpect them to be, at most, one month earlier than the stated March 28th ship date and not much sooner. Throw away all thoughts of the headphones shipping anytime before February.
chaplndaveBeen watching them snake their way cross country...fron Edison, NJ to PA to OH to Eastern Michigan. Shipping info has been sent to my local USPS. Scheduled delivery is not until tomorrow, but hoping for an early Christmas present today. Even with the heavy snow and drifting, USPS is supposed to deliver in any weather, right???
HypnauticaThat's weird for me all in the same day it said "arrived att DHL distribution center" at 10am. "Processed" at 11am. And "procces completed at origin" at 1 pm. This was 9 December also in secuacas NJ. So they will probably be in Denmark or Germany Tomorrow on its way to Sweden.
AveryCYay! Tracking says FedEx it's in LA, handing off to USPS sometime today, so I should have it tomorrow! That is if USPS doesn't screw it up, which they might.
Farkodo i need a dac even? i bought the darkvoice and i am thinking of buying maybe the modi 2. i heard that dacs dont make too much of a difference only if im hearing strange sounds while plugging it in to my pc otherwise it wont be needed. how important ios the dac really?
Drizzt321Mine got handed off to the USPS at around 3PM in SoCal and they're being delivered tomorrow as well. They usually deliver around 10-11AM to my address so I'll be able to enjoy them really early!
FarkoDACs aren't just about removing sound interference on your motherboard. Your PC generally only outputs 16 bit 44K audio which is fine for most people but if you're looking at FLAC files to go along with your shiny new 6XX for the best sound, you might want higher bit rates and those come from DACs. 24bit 96k for the Modi 2 up to 24bit 192K for the Multibit. People say higher bits give fuller sounds. Here's some comparison between the different bit rates:

http://www.tested.com/tech/1905-the-real-differences-between-16-bit-and-24-bit-audio/
Edit: I should add in that it really only matters if you have amazeball rips and not just regular MP3 320 rips.
FarkoNo one can tell you how important a dac will be to you. Many here have an opinion. Most would say a good dac makes a good set of cans better. The complete truth is you will have to try one yourself to make that determination. Choose one in your budget that has a good reputation and return policy if you cant try one out in a store. Let us know your findings.
chuckolatteI too my friend have a Isine20 lol and need a custom cable for that. Also just purchased the new LCD2 classic from Audeze its the remake of the original legend LCD 2 and need a custom balanced XLR for that too
Drizzt321I've been tracking mine, and its been traveling all across America. Why can't they just have a shipping point? Anyway, hope it comes before Christmas.
IXeroShipping information says it is out for delivery...and I'm at work...drat. Working a 12 hour shift today so will have to wait like until about 8 tonight. Oh well, I have tomorrow off and will be listening to these sweet headphones...can't wait. Hey...at least they got delivered five days earlier than predicted. Thanks Massdrop for a fantastic drop. Had to wait a long time to get the Senns, but I bet it will be worth every minute. Merry Christmas to all!!!
chaplndaveMine is at a FedEx that's literally 1 hour and 20 minutes away, but it pushed back the arrival date from Friday to Saturday. It is currently Wednesday afternoon here on the east coast in the US.
2.5 days to drive 1 hour and 20 minutes...talk about underachieving...
OZEDThey do have a shipping point, it originates from New Jersey. I'll admit I'm quite spoiled by Amazon having warehouses not so far from me so basically everything I buy is at most 2 days away (yay Prime!), but it's fairly reasonable IMO how they do it in order to keep shipping costs from being a lot more.
AveryCYay! Apparently USPS delivered them fairly early this morning. Weird. But then I had a bunch of meetings so finally listening to them :) Sounds very good. Surprisingly my phone (HTC 10 now) can drive them quite while without having to have them maxed out. On the higher side, for sure, but not right at the top. Same thing for the Dragonfly Black I have plugged into the phone, although I find the output of that is slightly better than the phone. I've actually been fairly surprised at the quality and max output of the HTC 10's DAC/AMP.
chuckolatteReceived mine yesterday, but had to wait to get home from my 12 hour shift to listen to them. After my wife went to bed I took them out of the box, plugged them in, and...WOW! I have some Senn HD 580s and there is truly a difference. Don't get me wrong, I still love the 580s, but the HD 6XX is amazing. A big thank you to Massdrop for making this possible and a fantastic price. I'm telling my friends to check out Massdrop for some great offerings. Thanks also to the community forums for talking me through some interesting issues. Have a great Christmas everyone!!! From a satisfied Massdrop customer...
chaplndaveYup, been listening to these for about 7 hours now with music/videos/gaming. I really do like them. The only caveat to these is that my LG V20 just doesn't quite get the job done. It's loud enough, but you can DEFINITELY hear improvement when I plug them into my Magni 2 Uber instead lol. Even though I like these, I did not forget the months of anguish we went through to receive them lol. So this is probably the last time I join a drop with such a long waiting time.
NumberoneqI got one email that said there has been a production delay
there has been no other emails since that one that said there was a production delay and that was a 5 days ago.
SlegoloverSorry to hear that. The last update said the October drop was finished except for some needing special attention. Or something like that. Maybe a fee didn't pass qc?
AveryCI really hate how the USPS in my area never updates the tracking info.. my package has been “in transit to destination” from their facility which is literally 10 minutes away for 12 hours now.
I called them earlier to see if I could just pick it up instead of having to wait but apparently none of the USPS offices in my area claim to have even accepted the package from Fedex. This is becoming a huge headache to deal with.
ItsVincentI went through the same thing. I called USPS customer support, waited 50 min to speak to a rep. They tracked it to the branch location..3 trips to the branch over 2 days and I finally got them. Luckily I got them on the way to the airport for a 3 week vaca.
The USPS rep was pretty helpful. He told me if I needed to call in again just say you want to file a complaint (even if you aren't). The call will get routed to a queue that has a 5-10min SLA.
AveryCGot mine last night, a lot bassier than I had expected(having come from DT770 Pro 250ohm). Also a bit disappointed that the serial number is just a sticker, though it's not like it matters mine being almost 31,000. Laser etched would have been cool. Also for anyone wondering I ordered October 14th. Thanks for all the updates on everything!
E111Wow that seems way out of wack. I mean I know they're large shipments but wow, I figured each chunk of shipments was in order(not exact but somewhat accurate) and actually estimated mine to be around 25-30k. I mean I know some October orders went out with the last of the July, so maybe things got mixed there and you got lucky.
PigmonkeYYeah, like I said it just seems crazy it varies that much, for yours to be double that of someone who ordered months later. That said no doubt if they were trying harder to sort them out it would have meant a lot later ship dates, which I prefer getting it sooner as I'm sure many would. And again based on people's SN's I had predicted mine might be in the 30k's, so it's not like I was expecting/hoping for anything low anyways.
AveryCWhat is the expected delivery time for orders made in Europe?
Mine shipped on Dec 8th, and it still hasn't arrived.
According to tracking, it's been sitting in Germany since Dec 13th.
I called DHL support and they told me that it MIGHT come into my country this week, but that delivery would probably be next week.
I mean seriously?...
kirbisiMy package has also been in Frankfurt since Dec. 9. and tracking hasn't been updated since then. I sent email to DHL already on Friday but of course they haven't replied.
Someone from UAE had his package waiting in Germany for 14 days before they appeared in Dubai.
AveryCGuess I probably won't be getting mine before Christmas
I was on the very end of the July drop and according to DHL they've been in transit to destination country (Australia) for just over a week now and are yet to arrive at customs.
It'd be nice if DHL gave me some sort of delivery estimate...
AveryCWell I hope eveyone is happy getting there 6XX before Christmas and I'm getting mines on the 27th wahhh wahhh lol! I just ordered the LCD2 classic of the which is the remake of the orginal and getting before my 6XX coming in. Mines is probably on a damn boat coming to Hawaii and cant wait to piar it up with my new balanced XLR custom cable and Jotunheim AMP n DAC>
MondrowMine were also sitting for transit to Australia. Tracking looks like they arrived in Australia 16th Dec, probably going through customs clearance. Might arrive before Christmas but doubtful due to Christmas Deliveries.
ItsVincentHey, so I just got my HD6XX pair today. I wanted to come back and find you and see if you got your pair. I am actually sad to say that I'm pretty damn unimpressed. :(
I find there to be very very weak bass and almost no punch in a kickdrum. It's to the point where I fear I am doing something wrong but I can't think what.
I'm running a Schiit Jotunheim with the balanced DAC module with with a balanced XLR cable, made sure we are set to hi gain ... and yet the bass is VERY VERY underwhelming compared to the M-100s.
I just wanted to know your take when you have your pair to compare.
Cheers.
HypnauticaStrange, I'm not basshead and it has a ton of punch and the bass is very solid, even without using my WA6 AMP straight to PC.
Sounds almost bassier than my HD650 but probably due to brand new ear pads vs few years old ones.
Sounds like you prefer bassy cans, these aren't them.
AveryCHey there everyone,
So I got my pair today and I need some input. I know that because of all the wait that I will have overhyped the expectations a bit. But I find myself VERY underwhelmed.
The main problem that I perceive is that these headphones seem so have very weak bass and also very weak punch/clarity on something like a kickdrum to me. I tend to like to listen to Ethereal Techno type stuff. For example check out music from "Tale of Us".
I am running a Schiit Jotunheim with the DAC module. A balanced XLR cable. I have made sure that the amp is set to high gain. Strictly WAV files.
Is this just what I should expect from these headphones? I have upgraded from V-Moda M100s ... and while I understand that the HD6XX is an open pair of cans compared to the M100s being mostly closed. It's an extremely significant change/loss in the amount of bass.
I suppose this is my first pair of "audiophile" headphones but I am just so shocked. I also know that they probably need about 100 hours of play to break in but man oh man.
Am I doing something wrong? Have I set something up incorrectly?
Perhaps a silly question but if I am using the Jotunheim and the source for my music is my computer by way of USB using the DAC module, the unit is still using the amp right? I mean, I assume it is because I can hear a difference with high and low gain settings.
I'm just very confused and would welcome advice.
Thank you!!!
ItsVincentThat's ok they will come! If you remember, would you mind letting me know your take on the comparison? I knew it would be different but not as different as I am perceiving. I guess the clarity of everything above about 120Hz in the HD6XX is pretty darn good but the bass is SO much less than the M100s it was a serious shock. I guess I just want to know that you experience something similar then I suppose it's just a difference I will need to get used to. But if you experience something different then I'll know to worry that there's something wrong with my pair haha.
HypnauticaWhat you're hearing is the way the music was actually recorded without any additional coloring by the headphones. The hd650's actually have plenty of bass. Go pull up some trap music that is bass boosted from the producer.
PigmonkeYI am on lunch at the moment and have only listened an hour, but even in this time my brain is correcting and I'm starting to fall in love. I'm sure I just need more time to get used to headphones that are by nature dramatically different that the M100s which really are only fashion cans. Like the clarity of the HD6XXs is huge. I'll give it more time.
Hypnauticayeah i felt that way too i have a logitech g633 gaming headset and was in a different city in my country and tried - hd660s, hd700, hd800, hd800s, focal elear and focal utopia and they all felt very bass light compared to my gaming headset almost felt like the bass was none existant. the clarity and soundstage was on a completly different league though making me not that bothered to sacrife my past bass needs.
ReknzReceived today ....😏 quick sound test on an iPhone and these things sound great, a subtle warm ness but the clarity and soundstage is unreal. I did purchase an aftermarket mic cable as well so this can be used for gaming as well.👍
RautanenFor anyone interested ...
My package arrived at Frankfurt on Dec. 9. Since then there were no updates before yesterday evening Dec. 19. Now my package is in Rodgau which is like 25 km away from Frankfurt. I guess that's ... progress.
At least I know something is happening but clearly I won't get my HD6XX by the Christmas. It's pretty amazing how much time has been wasted. Two days from US to Germany, 10 days to transfer 25 km within Germany.
JendramYou may be right, I don't know how this works within EU.
I assumed that package would go through customs only at the final destination country, which in my case is Finland. But maybe there's some customs clearance also when the package enters EU.
RautanenI thought the same. But it seems the opposite. I hope that they will contact us if they need some taxes or fees payment in order to move ahead the shipping. In addition, we came across all Christmas shipping problems. I am a bit sad with all of this, because I was quite hyped with the idea of enjoying my first pair of audiophile headphones this holidays.
RautanenIs there not going to be any official response from Massdrop?
They stopped using DHL in the US after years of complaints, yet when it comes to international orders, this was ignored.
In 2 days, it'll be 2 weeks since my order shipped, and it still looks like i'm nowhere near getting it. 2 weeks is supposed to be the upper limit for this shipping.
What infuriates me even more is the lack of tracking updates, I have no idea if it's just sitting in the same place, or if they aren't bothering to report its location.
I am fine with waiting months after a drop, so that the product can be manufactured, but it's not acceptable for the shipping to be this ridiculous.
It's been a poor first experience with Massdrop for me.
olek.sI agree. DHL is giving me a bad service. I contacted my local post service and local DHL service to get a more updated/detailed tracking information but they said they do not have it on their system. Wtf, even aliexpress standard shipping is better in terms of giving a better tracking information. PostNL can give me the local tracking code out of the aliexpress code I give them.
olek.sordered in July, they shipped out on Dec 7th. Took a while, but they arrived in Germany and left yesterday (they were in Germany for 3-4 days). That's what you get for cheap INTL shipping. Hope yours show up soon.
Cheers
HypnauticaAlright USPS finally updated my tracking and it says it’s expected to be delivered tomorrow here’s hoping they aren’t messing with my hopes again
ItsVincentAlso for me there's finally some progress after 10 days without updates. Day before yesterday they were in Rodgau, yesterday in Hamburg. Maybe I'll get them before New Year.
olek.sIt's honestly absurd to watch the times. Apart from the fact that events don't get updated until 24 hours after they happen on the tracker, it took a full week for the headphones to leave USA (destination Denmark), arrived in Germany on the 13th, lounge at their transit facililyt for 3 days before departing for Denmark.
That 7 hour drive (hamburg to copenhagen) somehow took 3 days, and so 2 days ago it arrived at my local distribution center, where it still lays. Never seen such absurd shipping times.
KariTalking about absurdity. It has been departed from the local distribution center in Rotterdam, which is an hour-long drive to my city, since Monday. Weird. No update since then.
HypnauticaTo my surprise USPS delivered my package at 5am today and after having listening to the HD6XX for a few hours I can definitely say I actually prefer them over the M-100s. They’re more comfortable for me to wear and now the M-100s just feel very small. I‘m using a JDS Labs Element and I can see what you’re saying about the HD6XX feeling like it’s lacking bass. With the V-Modas you feel the rumble way more than with the HD6XX but after having listened to the Sennheisers the V-Modas sound really hazy in comparison to the HD6XX. These are my initial impressions on them for now.
fathanmujibI had the same problem. It took 3 days before the status was updated to "Out of delivery". For both the Sennheiser and Hifiman. So hopefully mine will be delivered today or tomorrow.
WolffiFinally, it just arrived. Lucky me, I did not get charged by the customs. First impression, I never used open back headphone before, the sound leak is higher than what I expected. So far I like it.
fathanmujiblucky everyone who has already received them, mine are still stuck in Germany although i see some update that they moved them to other facility. Still 14 days is embarrassing, its not like we still use horses to move goods isn't it? #SadChristmas
fathanmujibKeep this in mind that the open back headphone are more for home use instead or quiet places. Open soundstage is awesome and you can hear alot more details in thr music then a close back headphone can. Invest in a headphone amp and dac if you havent yet so that they you can get the most sound out of your headphones.
Check out http://www.schiit.com/home
HypnauticaI agree with you regarding your initial thoughts on the bass response from the HD 6XX. Especially coming from my Sony MDR-Z7 on which the bass is so deep and thick that makes the music sound beautifully rich. Or my Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 that although has less bass extension than the MDR-Z7 is punchier and tighter so it provides a satisfying result when listening to Metal.
However, after just a few hours listening to the HD 6XX I can say that I absolutely LOVE them! And I could list all of the reasons why, but I will try to stick to your concern. I admit that at first I heard them a bit bass shy, but let's also keep in mind that my other two references are on the bassy side of sound and also both are closed-back (although the Z7 should fit more in the semi-open type). Taking all of that in consideration I still consider that the HD 6XX are incredibly good in reproducing a natural and balanced sound in all departments.
The way I see it is that liking and loving these headphones it's somewhat an acquired taste, especially if the music type you listen to is bass heavy. For example, so far I prefer to listen to Daft Punk's Random Access Memories or Katy Perry's Witness on my MDR-Z7. I absolutely love how Katatonia's The Fall of Hearts and Lunatic Soul's Fractured sound in my Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 But then I find myself enjoying Big Big Train's Second Brightest Star and Porcupine Tree's In Absentia more with the HD 6XX due to its uber clarity and overall tonal balance.
My recommendation is for you to give them more time; they are definitely a worth pair of headphones! It's possible that you are just so used to the V-shaped sound from your V-Moda (no pun intended). Ultimately, if you are planning on keeping both, I would suggest you to use them with a music genre that suits the headphones and YOU the most.
Steve-CastI've heard that they can lose a bit of bass if not properly driven, so people should make sure they have a DAC that can actually push through those 300 ohms. Additionally, I've heard good things on Head-Fi about using a parametric EQ to up the bass on these.
WowlThe bass is plenty enough trough the phone even. It's extremely clean so and even better with a dedicated amp dac. And if I'm not mistaken isn't it the amp that pushes the 300ohms not the dac? The DAC just enables different bit rates on the music quality and convertes the sound when needed.
FarkoIndeed, I think you're right. I've not looked into source technology much at all.
Just passing on what I've picked up with very unfaithful reproduction. Many people, probably especially here on Massdrop probably come from bassier phones. I myself have no experience with advanced headphones (excited for this), but I thought they could try it out of they really find it not to be sufficient after trying to get used to it. I'll probably only be boosting the sub bass a little bit.
WowlYeah same with me, I'm a basshead and really enjoy very bass songs and EQs when available. I have listened to bass lackluster headphones before and speakers and the music really felt unlisteble. But I never really owned any high quality headphones only different types of gaming headphones all closed back. But these ones don't have that kind of bass where it's shaky so to speak it felt none existent at first because I wasn't used but when I heard how clean the bass punches were it gave an entirely different feeling listening to bass songs than before and Damn I do prefer this kind of bass much more.
WowlI agree with you. I particularly love them just the way they are. They have more than enough bass for me, and I am simply delighted with the overall tonal balance they have. So far they have shined with my Schiit Magni 2!
But I was trying to address Hypnautica 's concern as he felt that these cans should provide more bass than the one he was hearing. That's where I guess a bit of background is needed, especially if someone is coming from a bass-oriented pair of headphones like the V-Moda's in his case or the Momentum 2.0 in mine.
Thank you for sharing the information about Parametric EQ, I've come to enjoy music the way it was recorded, without additional EQ but might as well give it a chance in the future.
Steve-CastI have a pair of Momentum 2.0 over ear and i love them so much. I did never hear open back headphones.
Do you think i can enjoy the HD6XX?
I listen to Rock (new and old), Pop and Electro but i also use them for Netflix and gaming.
I do have a good creative sound card in my PC that amps up to 600ohm headphones.
KukoCLI think you will. I enjoy my set with pretty much any genre, but I think they shine even more with acoustic genres like rock and orchestral. Bottom line, get them. I don't think you'll regret it. Just keep in mind of the wait for these lol
KukoCLI'm glad to hear you love your Momentum 2.0, I do as well! They're simply a great pair of headphones.
Now, would you enjoy the HD 6XX? my immediate answer would be: Absolutely! Being the case that you already know and love Sennheiser's sound signature it will please your ears to have an upgraded version from the Momentum 2.0 in many departments, like clarity, separation, soundstage and accuracy, just to name a few.
Yes, the Momentum 2.0 will have more of a punchy bass due to it's closed back nature, but the HD 6XX are in no way behind. It's just that the bass you will hear from the HD 6XX will be more natural and precise (like if the bass on the Momentum 2.0 was not precise enough already).
And I could really go on with the many things I love about these 2 headphones but ultimately I can tell you that I recommend the HD 6XX as a true high-end product, I'm just amazed by how good these headphones sound, and I'm pretty sure that you would think the same if you end up getting them.
KukoCLyou will LOVE them, i do at least, my headphone collection is pretty small, HE4xx,AKG702 annies,HD6xx, HD598, sony md7506, my two favs are the hifimans and these and honestly it'd be hard to say which one i prefer over the other, i do think the style and build quality on the hifimans is absolutely stellar but they are also a bit heavy and large due to that, beyond that though the HD6xx has become my jack of all trades headphones, they seem to work well enough with my samsung galaxy s8 to get me through a plane flight and really just come alive when i get them home and plug them into my system, i don't think i really understood the saying "scales well" until i had these guys, they just seem to be pretty darn good regardless of what i am using them with..that said my S8 phone with no amp or dac is my baseline, don't really have anything "weaker" than that...well maybe my, nintendo switch can also power these to acceptable levels too...
i listen mostly to rock and all of it's various flavors and derivatives myself, they are great for this.
AveryCGuys, is it normal that I (and a friend of mine) are still waiting from October to receive the headphones? We're from Italy and they seem stuck in customs. Thanks
cadopWe have to say "thank you" to Poste Italiaote if we are still waiting ! One month of customs clearence, can you believe it?! I've send them tons of mail: no reply.
I ordered mine in October too, and according to them, I have recieved mine today! Right! Now i have to go to the post office...of the nearby city! Jesus...they send the stuff in the wrong place, not even able to read .
And after all this joys, 60€ ready to fly away due to customs charges, this was just the cherry on top. End here?
Poste italiane, un branco di raccomandati e imbecilli
MunsetYea, youre not alone, i think massdrop should look for different ways of shipping if people want to receive sooner or something. I wouldnt mind paying extra just so i dont have to wait months of shipping.
Its all nice having lowered prices, but its all ruined by absurd shipping times. Why choose the cheapest courier? People need options :(
kirbisiThere is this place for you called amazon... you're not getting how the business model of massdrop works and why they are able to offer the prices the do for the select items they carry.
kirbisiMassdrop can do absolutely fuck all about your countries customs officials taking forever.
Massdrop and it's employees have zero control over ANYTHING once the package has landed in customs.
Massdrop can't control tariffs, they can't control import fees or taxes, they can't control how long it takes.
complaining to Massdrop about this sort of thing is asinine. i feel bad for you guys and wish that's not the way things were and it would be nice if massdrop could help you but they can't and asking for help on some of this stuff is kinda stupid.
your shipping time is likely being held up by customs, it's not like Massdrop decided to ship your headphones via donkey with water wings so that it would take 4 months to get there across the Atlantic. paying more for faster shipping just means that it would get to customs quicker and still sit there for a period of dam near 4 months.
.....why do i even have to say any of this? it's kinda dumb to be blaming Massdrop for any of this.
TheIzzardKingI will repeat. Massdrop should look for other couriers so users can choose who will deliver their shipment. As i remember DHL was the only choice, theres no reason not having express shipping or something which would guarantee faster delivery. Its been on most online shops for years.
It didnt take 4 months to transfer shipment across Atlantic. It took exactly one day. Shipped 7.12. In Germany 8.12. Of course its DHL's fault that they didnt care to move it for the next month, but at the same time part of it is Massdrop's responsibility, was anyone given any other choice? And i dont want hear any BS they were held at customs or something. What, when its in EU it had to wait in 5 different facilities to clear customs? All the import tax and VAT had to be paid only after they checked it out at local customs in my country.
Some people just seem to missing the point what really angers peoples. Its not Massdrop's policy, its that shipping and its updates make no sense what so ever.
kirbisi" What, when its in EU it had to wait in 5 different facilities to clear customs? "
yes, exactly that.
we get your point, but it's wrong, maybe if everyone is trying to tell you something you should listen no?
if you google your problem you will see hundreds if not thousands of people having the same issue, the only difference is they are blaming customs and not DHL or Massdrop. I'm sure DHL would love to just deliver the package straight to your door, every time they touch the package just adds more cost on their end.
785,000 results for the problem you are having, again a VERY common problem that has nothing to do with massdrop or DHL.

Syrento349I've had these headphones for a while now, they are fantastic. Great sound stage, crystal clear, comfortable and light. The only thing missing is proper bass.
