Caveat emptor! -- Buyer Beware!
I received these headphones and was SO EXCITED to open them as a Christmas present to myself. However, I was CRESTFALLEN to find the most expensive pair of headphones I have ever owned have a very noticeable spot where paint is just missing (you can see its on the black part of the headphones) near the cushion.
I *THOUGHT* I was buying new headphones, but then I found apparently I'm received used/damaged headphones for the price of new headphones. On top of this, I had to wait 4 months for them to arrive.
Upon opening a support request with Massdrop (MD-42703-2040097) they told me in so many words "not our problem, contact the manufacturer". And then when I sent a follow up response, no response from them. The silence is deafening. I hope that before they take down this post (for some silly reason) some people get to see it and make a decision to think twice.
It's sad that my first experience with this company has been so challenging.

aroonithat little dot is hardly noticeable and hidden. anyway, if it happened to me i probably wouldn't bother and just use a sharpie to paint it.

TrilobitesWhat makes you believe they are used, aside from the sub par paint job? Are there any other signs that they are used? I doubt they are used. Part of the long order time is that they are behind on large orders being manufactured. If you are looking for another place to buy from, bhphoto has a sale going on, 306 for sennheiser hd650. And you dont have to wait 4 months. But there are many who are willing to wait 4 months for the extra savings. Did you get ahold of the manufacturer? Maybe they will send you another pair and not have to send the other pair back. I'm just wondering how it is dealing with them? Thanks. Sorry about your rotten experience.

arooniNot sure what I'm looking for, that white spot on the black part of the earcup? if so then that's not paint missing because they are solid black plastic.

E111Every company should be so lucky to have customers like you folks. Minimizing a fellow customer's valid concerns and saying 'because that would be no big deal for me, it shouldn't be a big deal for you' shows a lack of empathy and the fact that each personal experience is not a universal one. Also Happy New Years :)

arooniSeeing how you start it with a "buyers beware" as if 1 persons negative experience will change peoples minds over a great product from a good company. Send Sennheiser an email that's who is in charge of the 2 year warranty, we don't work for the company and 20+ thousand or so are happy with their 6xx so far, every company sometimes sends out something that's been overlooked and has a small flaw(or huge) that's why warranties and recalls exist. What would you like us to do? Like I said that's solid black plastic, just remove that white speck whatever it is.

arooniAm I alone in believing that the original post was meant to be satirical? Or did the people who noticed decide to stay silent? haha I started noticing it at "the silence is deafening," then I re-read the post and kicked myself for not noticing earlier.

RaymondblSeems like he probably picked off that white piece of whatever it was then edited his original comment to try and make it sound funnier and less of a rant.

RockyMountainsLOL. My messages haven't changed or been edited. I'm pleased to see that Internet snark is alive and well with this comment chain... you folks are such a welcoming community with people you disagree with! Resorting to ad hominem attacks lowers the quality of discussion.
I wish you all the best, even if I disagree with you.

arooniThat IS unfortunate that you have received a less than perfect product from Sennheiser and MassDrop. Though technically, MassDrop is correct that you will need to contact Sennheiser and ask them for a remedy as they are the ones whom made it. I'm not going to excuse the less than perfect paint job they did on yours but I would say the product is not damaged or used though as stated which should give you negotiating power with Sennheiser. Where are you based anyway?

SuopermanniThis got me thinking.
Who actually builds an item which is labeled "Massdrop Made?" Is a defect a shared responsibility?
The itsy-bitsy, teeny-weenie, white molecule is being blamed on Sennheiser, yet Massdrop seems to claim proprietary interest in this listing.
Who is actually responsible for warranty claims?

LekoguyIf you bothered to look at the page it says " Sennheiser 2-year warranty " and not Massdrop 2-year warranty. It's a collaboration with 2 companies clearly manufactured by one and has the warranty by them too.

E111However, that doesn't mean that Massdrop is out of the loop if problems occur. One of the original complaints was that Massdrop dismissed the original complaint. One would expect the 'co-maker' to expedite the warranty claim. That might be a false assumption and would provide information on the intricacies of joining any drop.
Maybe I bother to read past simple statements to try come to a further understanding of a situation.

LekoguyWe don't see the messages between both parties but if it was like his unedited one I'm not surprised Massdrop told them to contact the manufacturer. And Massdrop made means made for Massdrop because that's what it is. Not sure why this is all confusing? It is a collaboration hence: " Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 6XX"

E111It's not at all confusing.
But, it is rather rare that Massdrop forms a collaboration with a manufacturer. Usually they only act as a sales broker. When it is stated as "Massdrop Made" and "Massdrop X Sennheiser," there is a direct implication of something other than mere brokerage. Until the implications of the collaboration are understood, those in the drop remain a bit in the dark of how to proceed with concerns.
In simple words: Who do I contact for what?

LekoguyYes I saw who you tagged and I gave my insight, and you responded to me. Have you looked at the current and and recent drops? 80% of them are Massdrop X "" under the Audiophile tag. No one is in the dark if you just read before you buy, you scroll down to where it says warranty and it says 2 years with Sennheiser, so you contact Sennheiser. And if you are still confused you contact Massdrop like the first poster did and they will tell you to contact Sennheiser, not a huge deal.
