Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

The Jubilee 58X claims to be two generations further than the HD6XX but why is this one 200 dollars and Jubilee is only 150 dollars? Can someone explain the difference? As of this comment, there are only 12 hours to go before it concludes.
If you have invested, or plan on investing $1000+ in DACs/AMPs and only listening to lossless/analog/96kHz/etc. sources, then it might make sense to look into the tiny tiny tiny differences, but you should be warned that a large part of audiophiledom has reached well into the realm of subconscious biases. The differences between some models can be even more subtle than the barometric pressure of the atmosphere, the angle of your head, the wear time of the drivers, or the tension of the muscles in your face and people will swear by one or the other before admitting it's just manufacturing variability.
Case in point, look at the number of people talking about how much better/worse the HD580, HD598, HD600, and HD650 are and realize that these all had (at some point in the last 15 years) the exact same drivers. Slightly different screen, or headband, or earpad, or cord, or design.
I don't have a 600 to compare...however you must be right: the differences must be subtitle.
either way...based on theory, I would personally chose the 6xx over the 58x......the 6xx is just a fantastic pair!
Now, I'm not saying that it's a problem, but I DO think that Sennheiser simply realized they had a winning design and made tweaks to market it better, not sound better. I haven't heard the 650s, but owned 580s and borrowed 600s for a bit (5+ years ago), and taking into account manufacturing variability and the little tweaks Senn does over time without assigning new product numbers, they sounded the same. I would still go with the 600s for a modest price bump because they feel higher quality. But, my general rule is that the placebo effect/confirmation bias increases exponentially with price when drivers, geometry, condition, and airflow are held constant, so I try to remain skeptical until proven wrong.
I'm just excited to be getting a pair again. I LOVED my HD580s, which broke right after I got another set of cans that I could barely justify. You can't go wrong with any of these models. I've listened to 50+ pairs of good headphones and if anyone asks me for a recommendation, I always point to the 580/600/650 (unless they're acoustic and rock only, then Grados).
