Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

I have a aune x1s 10th anniversary edition on the way and will be trying it out against my massdrop o2 and schiit magni 2 amps. (Will use the x1s dac, known for one of the best dacs anyways when comparing the amps).
As of right now without a dac, the schiit magni 2 amp sounds a little better than the o2. The o2 is maybe more neutral but is little muffled and a little less separation (soundstage/imaging) and a little more distorted. I think the o2 may have a bit better bass tho, tho I have heard the magni 3 has a bit better bass so this sound not be a concern. As a side note I prefer the volume control and knob (smoother) better on the schiit and it has a big jack instead of the little 3.5mm.
Once I try out those three, I will sell two and may consider trying some cheaper options like the micca origen g2 or the fiio q1 mark ii (has balanced and portable so I may pick this up just for that!).
More expensive things I may try, but probably don't plan to have balanced such as the aune x7s, schiit jotunheim (may wait for a new version) and monoprice has their new monolith amp coming (would wait for reviews first tho).
Hope I was somewhat helpful.
If I have to guess without listening to them all first, then
For around $100: Fiio q1 mark ii > micca origen g2 > fulla 2.
For around $200: Aune x1s > Schiit magni 3 with modi 2 > o2 amp with odac.
Is the extra $100 worth it? I dunno, I am sure if there is a difference it be somewhat small maybe.
Massdrop just dropped it a few days ago with the new 10th anniversary edition for $200. The aune x7s (it's a amp only, but is class a and balanced) for $200. If you bought both then you get $20 off ($380 usd).
I decided to only get the aune x1s. I mainly want to sell off the other stuff I am going to try and maybe consider the x7s if they come out with a new version (generation).
Aune x1s has more power now, does it have more power than a magni 3? According to the specs the magni 3 may be more powerful.
The magni 2 and o2 amp have plenty of head room to run my m1060, 6xx, he-4xx, k7xx, so unless you have something harder to drive, then maybe consider the magni 3.
Sound wise I heard the magni 3 is almost the same as the magni 2, maybe a bit more bass. That's what the more power is probably helping the most.
The modi 2 does not have rca, coax, out and has no coaxial or optical in. The aune x1s does while the modi 2 uber costing more does but is missing rca and coaxial out. The aune x1s has higher sample rate support and dsd but that does not really matter because most songs don't use it but its there in case. Most people will just use optical and also with that not need any drivers (only up to 96 khz with optical). The aune is a all in one so it will take less space.

" That's cool, I just want to know if you have a new product or upgrade coming out soon? Ask Apple about their upcoming products. Yeah. Same goes here. Sorry, but for obvious reasons, we don't discuss new products or upgrades before release. "
