Received my HD6XX yesterday, but it produces a weird ear piercing rattle at what I consider normal to high music volumes. It sounds even worse with music with notable bass lines. Cable works great on my neighbor friend's HD6XX. Contacted Massdrop, but they directed me to some specialized engineers team. All I know is that the headphones are defective. I tried it on 3 different sources, my pc through my R2R-11, macbook pro with Topping D50 and CLX amp, and directly from my Fiio X3ii. The rattle and distortion is there with all of them. I gently shaked it unplugged and nothing rattles inside. IMHO, its a problem with the left driver. Will wait for the "specialized team of bright engineers", to see what they have to say.

ArtifizMight be a hair on the driver caught under the earpads. I once had that with my Ath M50x's. Just remove the earpads / foam cover of the driver and see if you can locate a hair. Remove carefully, drivers are easily pinched. If no hair, then they are indeed likely defective.

Merv73Yeah, I thought of that at first. I removed the ear pads, looked at it and it was clean. It is definitely the left driver, something wrong inside it. I am glad Massdrop shipped a replacement that I am about to receive today. Thanks for your comment.
