Updated 1/23:
Hi Everyone,
The Massdrop Vast Curved Gaming Monitor has arrived at the warehouse and the team is wrapping up quality control checks. The monitors are starting to ship and we expect all orders to leave the warehouse by the end of this week (January 26).
We’re looking forward to everyone receiving the first production of the Massdrop Vast Curved Gaming Monitor!
Updated 1/16:
Hi Everyone,
We have an update on the Massdrop Vast Gaming Monitor. The shipment of monitors experienced a delay while in transit to our warehouse, and we now expect the monitors to arrive early next week. After receiving and quality control checks, we estimate that the monitors will ship out by the end of next week (January 26).
The monitors were shipped via vessel and our team informed us that the delays were due to changing weather and ocean patterns. We know you’re likely just as disappointed as we are, and we’re sorry for this delay. We’re doing what we can to get the monitors shipped to everyone as quickly as possible.
We’ll provide an update next week with the status of the shipment.
Updated 1/5:
Hi Everyone,
We have an update on the Massdrop Vast Curved Gaming Monitor. The monitors are in transit to our warehouse in New Jersey, and once they arrive they will go through the receiving and quality control check process. We wanted to give everyone a heads up that the timeline will be tight, and we’ll be cutting it close for all units to ship on 1/18. We’re pretty confident that the monitors will start shipping on 1/18, however we estimate that the shipment will span over a few days.
We are still aiming to have all units ship on 1/18, and we’re working with the warehouse to prioritize this. We apologize for this potential slight delay, and we’ll provide an update on 1/18 with the current shipping status.
MrsuperbryanAgreed; I'd rather wait a few days more and actually receive a monitor that works as advertised than to have something missed during QC. Please, take your time!
AveryCIs there any hints on when the next time This drop will be available? it looks to me like 8389 users have requested this product since the last drop, Currently in "college
and wasnt able to get to the last drop ;(
PurplDiamondI now realize i may be wasting my time hoping for this monitor to drop, as i doubt ill be able to get it in time with my schedule, But a man can dream, January 18 i believe is the estimated ship date that for the current drop of VAST monitors, Will there be another drop after the current are all shipped out and done with? I know, I know. This is probably super annoying But looking at this monitor is just exciting! and i really cant wait.
AveryCAwh, OKAYyYY ill have to deal with my 2 monitor setup for another week ): honestly when i read through the email fast i thought they said they were literally shipping them with a ship to my state (completely ignoring any other state being landlocked) and then realizing they meant from wherever they were manufactured.
AveryCTake your time to make sure you're delivering a quality product for the first-ever massdrop monitor.
It's not worth cutting corners and rushing to meet a deadline. We can wait a bit (if delays continue maybe throw in some massdrop credit or something to compensate, but don't rush delivery).
Bronze-KnightNo kidding.... Paid 3 months ago and still have nothing to show for it. I knew it was going to take a while to ship, but delaying it makes it that much worse. They should just overestimate the shipment date and surprise people by saying it shipped early.
AveryCSo they're not shipping next week.
There's no Massdrop lets millions of dollars of product through a port and have no idea where it is or when it's getting somewhere through the process. If there was a delay it was determined long before yesterday as it takes a significant amount of time to get product off a ship, through the port, through customs, to a US carrier, shipped across the US, then through the US Massdrop facility's testing/verification and re-packaging process. All of those times are known, which means the only reason "we don't know when its shipping" is because you don't want to say when the real ship date is or you genuinely have no idea when it's arriving, and that's even scarier because it means you don't have a logistics tracking system in place.
geoffchadAgreed, for them to tell us now about the delay with the vessel and be delayed by a week. Something seems off. and they won’t respond to your message
evrialyou mean 1st world problems? I don't think 3rd world worries about 35" monitor, CURVED at that. more like clean drinking water.
that's how lucky and fortunate you ppl are!
geoffchadI don't know about that, for R&D we ship and use 4G LTE testing equipment sh*t all the time from/to france and all we get is a stinking tracking number with K&N for stuff that is $300k+(unless you want to pay premium for GPS tracker or even more for contact with actual carrier) then they call us when it gets to customs and we have to fill and refill godless amounts of paperwork like "is there a computer chip" "can the computer chip do encryption" and about 50 more mindless and funny questions like that. MD prolly wont know what happened until the shipper receives it through the port and can scan it. then we can hope they already have their customs/import paperwork done and the container wasn't sitting next to some chemical/restricted material as that will ring all sorts of bells.
you don't realize the monitors you buy anywhere else has been through this process and sitting on shelves for weeks if not months, WE ARE ON THE BLEADING EDGE OF THE IMPORT/EXPORT process here. I was surprised they only slipped by a week. the actual on water time is only about a 12-14 days, but guessing that end date back on October is the true scary stuff
stupidusernamecheckBut that's sorta the point - if they "just found out" that means it just got off a boat. Let's say customs and port takes a week, then 3 days transit, then arrival and inventory at Massdrop HQ, then two days of testing and reboxing for individual shipment. If all of that is true then when they didn't get to Massdrop last week they aren't shipping em this week. If they "hope" to ship next week then they "hope" they arrive at massdrop this week. As its mid week that means in order for that to be possible they're already en route with a carrier and bill of lading, which massdrop would have to say "they'll be there by " XXX" but if they had that they'd know when they were going to ship.
geoffchadYou're gonna get your monitor... it'll all be fine.... no need for conspiracy theories. Seeing its your first drop i understand the skepticism but no worries, delays happen. Life moves on you'll get it.
WittenzellnerThat's not even my concern. My concern is open & honest customer relations. If there's a delay tell your customers and don't give them unrealistic expectations. I see this ALL the time with companies that don't have good logistics or get stuff from China (including massdrop previously).
Its not a conspiracy theory - and its not my first drop, just the first one for this account.
This is a really high profile drop as evidenced by the number of people requesting it again, so it needs to be handled well.
geoffchadyeah, I get you. AND since this drop is in such real-time ordering/delivery it would be nice if they broke the timeline into sections and update on that.
shipped from manufacturer ----- on vessel/water ---- in customs ----- ground shipping to MD WH ------ testing ----- shipping.
now I know that the guys at MD have more drops than just one per their staff, but this post took less than 3 minutes *yes I timed it* still at 2:15 while I'm typing*
so yeah, now we hope they made the new "estimate" statement is really based on solid data of the shipment location and not assumptions.
AveryCYAYAYAYAYAYYAYYAYAYAY, just got my tracking info! Crossing my fingers that I get it before the weekend for some awesome Star Citizen/Destiny 2 action!
EDIT: And FedEx servers are down :D
EDIT 2: And FedEx servers are back up and my monitor will be here in 4 days!
JeeTheMenI ordered on October 25th and I have a tracking number, should arrive this Thursday. Which is much faster than I would have expected (shipping wise).
Uberdoodlehehe MINE shipped too!
or at least that is the message I got, I believe that means they just made the label, last time a monitor too 5 days, so maybe Monday! :D
Thanks @AveryC@Will @massdrop!!!
AveryCGot my tracking number at 12:00 AM EST it made it to the facility by 8:00 PM EST and they have an estimated delivery date of this Friday I'm in Florida BTW.
JeeTheMenPurchased mine on October 3rd, also in Canada (BC).
The drop status still says "Order placed with the vendor" so i'm guessing it hasn't shipped yet.
Kind of bummed since it will probably take longer to clear Canadian customs than it will US state lines.
Ahh... so antsy!
skCoryI'm in the same boat as you but in the opposite side of the country... If I get it next week I'll be really happy but I'm not betting anything on that...
Bronze-KnightPlaced my order 26 October, got a tracking number at 10:13 PM EST last night, going to Central Virginia. Hasn't been picked up yet, but states delivery to be expected by 25Jan18.
Uberdoodlehey ROMEOVILLE lol
I'm in chi, but mine still says "label created" but the scheduled delivery is also unchanged! Thu EOD....
but yours is already almost there..... :(
Twix717What kind of footprint does the base take up? I’m concerned my desk might not have enough area in its current configuration so any measurements would really help! <3
CharlieMasonLol I won’t be publishing anything official but I can say that Linus’s review of the monitor is accurate, the menu system doesn’t function like he said though. They must have changed it because it works in a logical manner rather than the random none sense it was in the LTT video. Time will tell how it holds up but I still can’t believe it only cost me $550 the quality and specs.
Twix717Thanks for sharing. Any dead pixels or issues?
I've never done any videos but I'm open to making one once I get mine, but that won't be until next Tuesday at which point I think most people will already have theirs. I currently have a couple 27" Korean monitors running at 110hz, can't wait to get mine .
PhysicalVocalistlol I had to completely rearrange my desk for it. Never had monitor near this size. For measurements, here's a few:
base: 18.5 inches wide, 10 inches deep, and 18 inches high.
monitor: at its lowest its about 4 inches off the desk. the panel is 33 inches wide. the panel is 15 inches tall (19 if you count from the desk as it's lowest)
i rounded up to the nearest half inch with the base measurements. I assume you like a little breathing room around the display. The other measurements for the panel came out to round numbers. if you need any specific stuff like vertical arrangement or something just let me know and ill check it out for ya. Hope this helped!
Twix717I just got my Vast today. Are you using the display port by any chance? I couldn't get Windows to boot into it. The only way for Windows to get a picture are:
(1) HDMI connection
(2) Vast connect via DP while having my old monitor connects via HDMI
In all cases, I am able to see the POST messages. I am using a Gigabyte Aorus 1080ti extreme . I also tried a different DP cable. Any tips or tricks will be appreciated!
Twix717Yeah, the part about the weird menu were all the reviewers doing a poor/lazy job. Massdrop gave all reviewers a note with the test monitors, where they wrote that menu buttons were just a prototype and would be fixed in final product
CharlieMasonI'll notice them (but I'm sensitive to dead pixels), but it took me a while to notice them using pixel buddy as in alot of the colors it blended in quite well, but I did contact support just to see if there is any fix or if I can exchange for a new panel, as it is supposed to be a perfect pixel display. The dead pixels may bother me after a while, but everything else seems good. As I can't notice any visible ghosting and colors out of the box seem pretty good.
SPARTAN1147789Hi spartan, had that problem with my old gaming monitor, but i fixed it easy at least that one time. I used this youtube guide.
... But I just displayed a gif in solid color (fullscreen) where it switched between different rgb color and let it run for a couple of hours every day for a week and the pixels turned on finally.. hope this helps :)
MahlergreenI'm running mine on HDMI at the moment. Waiting on parts to come in the mail for my new PC to run DP. i can set up a test bench and plug it in to see if it posts and stuff later. for now probably just try and see what others say about it. try and get some info. the internet is a vast place and I'm sure there's an answer hiding somewhere for you. I wish you best of luck my friend!
MasterRend4nThanks, but it didn't seem to work for me. I tried the sound and flashlight option as well as the switching option, It may go away overtime, but for the moment I am stuck with it.
Damn. That sucks. Hopefully that Youtube guide will fix those pixels.
Essentially we're pretty screwed if we get a dead pixel. Meaning we can only get our money back and not exchange it. Sound like MD didn't think about ordering extra monitors in case something like this happened.
RangerXMLThat might be, i dont know, never tried the flashlight thing, just the part about using different colors. As i wrote i used a gif video with solid color switching for a week, and that worked. My buddy also did it with his laptop screen, and it also worked for him with changing the colors on display really fast. In his case he had 7 stuck pixel now he only has two, but those seem to be completely dead. Its worth a try.
RangerXMLOkai, good thing i never tried that method, i would have looked like a idiot then :)
But yes the color change method worked, i know linus on youtube have fixed some of his monitors that way.
JeeTheMenYeah I plan to run it for a while, but at the moment it's stuck and it doesn't look like an easy fix. The good thing is that I do not notice it with gaming. The wierd issue I'm having now is that if I change the resolution or refresh rate the monitor will stop registering a signal and will not detect my pc until I reboot. May be the cable, I'll change that out if it happens again.
AveryCHey, I'm using it right now, but I'm having problems. The monitor pnly has the option to run at 2560 X 1440p, and I can't see a way to fix it! Anyone know how?
RangerXMLYeah, it seemed odd as I never heard of that one before but I thought I would give it a try. I agree it's bs, I'm leaving a flashing screen over the deadpixels to see if it will fix it for now. Will let you know if I make any progress.
FusfaceGot my Canada Post tracking number - shows as Card for Pick Up and COD (I assume for customs fees). Still no estimated delivery date - interestingly enough, mine went through New Jersey.
SPARTAN1147789Yup, using displayport! Tried it in both windows and MacOS, the OS sees the display in both, but the display always says no signal.
Really frustrating, since I paid a lot of money for this, and expected it to work.
EDIT: Okay, now it works just fine, except for one thing: it only runs at 2560x1440, at only at 60 hz.
Just a little while ago it was running at 3440X1440, but only at 45 hz. What is going on...
ibibassWhat graphics card/PC are you using, As it sounds like it may be hardware/software related. Make sure in the osd that displayport 1.2 is selected, don't know if that's the problem. But it sounds like something is limiting the bandwidth of your monitor, so I would try that first.
SPARTAN1147789I'm using a 2017 macbook pro with a usb-c to displayport cable. The monitor is set to displayport 1.2. the weird thing is that it works fine with HDMI with another laptop, but 21:9 doesn't work over displayport on mine.
JeeTheMenI'm submitting a support ticket right now to see if they know anything. The fact that all our duty/tax numbers are different seems super shady. I personally despise UPS. Everything I've ever gotten through them has been late, fucked up, or both. If we are meant to pay some kind of duty/tax, you think it would be the same number across the board, right? Like, we all paid the same amount of money for it. It's valued at the same thing...
FusfaceYeah the tax rate difference between ON and BC is literally 1%. I feel like we're getting cheesed here.
Found the link to the post @Will made about the expected duty being around $46 CAD. @WSDylan@JeeTheMen@Fusface
snailzrusHere's Will post:
"Hey everyone, good news! We've found a more efficient way to ship the Vast to Canadian customers. Because of this, we have reduced the price of Canadian shipping to $50.
All existing transactions will be automatically updated, no action is required if you've already joined the drop.
Additionally, we were able to get a quoted range for the import duty Canadians will have to pay. After duty and clearance fees, you can expect to pay $46 Canadian."
So 50+46=96 plus 11$ ups scam fee.. 107$ CAD Plus tax.. I'm pretty much there... I'm must have been to exited to get this drop and just retain the 46$ part...
snailzrusWell I'm sure it's not a scam, but I wouldn't mind helping you look into this, considering we have a good sample size of people that has bought the exact same product around Toronto.
JeeTheMenThe $50 was charged at checkout though, it's not charged upon receiving. We're $50 USD in already, so ~$62CAD + $46 CAD = $108 CAD all said and done. What we're looking at right now is $62 + ~$125 = ~$187 just to get the damn thing. I paid less duty when purchasing a pre-built PC from CyberPower for my brother. It cost well over a thousand dollars and the duty was just a hair over $100 at the time.
JeeTheMenBruh. My package just left my hometown and arrived in Seattle. It arrived in my city at 4:46 and checked in at Seattle an hour later. Why is it in Seattle?! Am I going to have to play double duty?!
antoinecampeauJust got off the phone with UPS. They explained all the charges. It looks like there is $41 charge because the package originated in China, ie it was manufactured there. The rest after that was explained as all government charges. UPS is claiming that they are not imposing any extra fees on these quotes and that the quote comes directly from Canadian Border Services who is using the "certified" information that the shipper (MassDrop) signed.
snailzrusMines went to 3 different places in New Jersey over 3 days and I live on the other coast ;-;
I feel like they ran outta space on the bus each time for me.
snailzrusThat isn't Massdrop's fault, although I can understand your problem with the ballooning cost. This is entirely up to the local government and the charges they apply for customs and duties.
CharlieMasonYeah I know, but there wasn't an upfront warning over it. I was expecting it to be treated as US to Canada, which I knew would have some duty, but it's being treated as China to Canada because "it was manufactured in China". I'm pretty sure most of the junk I buy from evike is made in China or other non-NAFTA countries. Same with a couple things that shipped from NewEgg USA back in the day.
snailzrusActually, while it wasn't written in bold and italics in the title, it was already made clear that the items would be shipped directly from place of manufacture. That is one of the methods used to keep prices low. It should have been clear customs charges would have been applied to the monitors, though I do agree that it's a bummer that customs charges are cloudy and different for different places. I don't see what MD could've done about that. Maybe governments should make their customs charges transparent.
CharlieMasonNo, they actually said that they would not be shipping from the manufacturer facility as it was not setup to ship single units but instead pallets of product. Idk where you're getting your info from, but I'm getting mine from MassDrop employee posts in the discussion for this drop.
They even clearly stated that there was a delay of the shipment that was in transit from the manufacturer to MassDrop's warehouse due to weather at sea.
The tracking number I have says it was shipped out of MassDrop's facility in Edison NJ.
Basically everything points to the opposite of what you said.
FusfaceWhos your carrier? Mine is USP and I owe $146 very disappointed.. Was led to. Believe fees would be around $50
Freaking hate ups going to try and clear it myself
q2kleptoJust called and mine with UPS is like 155$. Considering not even paying it and get a refund. It's so bad it's killing this deal. Total for shipping taxes and duties = about 60 cad for shipping and 155cad for fees and custom = a whopping 215 to get that damn thing. @YanboWu@Will can I just decide not to pay the c.o.d and they will ship it back to you so I get a refund..?
snailzrusI've always heard about Customs charges being outlandish for importing to Canada, but your scenario just sounds ridiculous. I'd research if Canada Govt. collects a higher duty on "made in China" products. I'm looking at this site:
https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/travel-voyage/pdt-pdt-eng.html
JeeTheMenYup this is garbage - esp when we can get 3440x1440p@100hz on eBay with Free Shippping and less duty than this (happened with 2 Crossover and a QNIX monitor - very little charges)
Going to try and clear it myself and if the duty is over $75 im not going to accept it
JeeTheMen"we were able to get a quoted range for the import duty Canadians will have to pay. After duty and clearance fees, you can expect to pay $46 Canadian."
This was THE biggest reason i went with the VAST as opposed to getting something 3 months ago from eBay (Viotek) ...MD has lost a lot of respect from myself and this will make me think twice about their promises
q2kleptoMonitor is in my city, but on this site https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/travel-voyage/pdt-pdt-eng.html , it's about 110$ (exactly what my friend paid). I will call ups with his tracking number and adress and see in what way it's different and pay the duties in any way. Last time with Massdrop aswell here..
q2kleptoGot some good news as I just confirmed with border security there is no duty on computer monitors (Classification number 8528520000) when brining it back yourself. You would just pay the taxes.
q2kleptoJust called UPS - the monitor isnt in my city yet (Winnipeg) probably Monday. Ill go to the UPS office grab the clearance forms and then to the CBSA office down the street.
Not cool...debating whether or not to just ask MD for a full refund and order a Viotek monitor from eBay
Juanathan007If you go to https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/travel-voyage/dte-acl/est-cal-eng.html and plug in todays exchange rate (which is pretty good) $549USD = $677CAD. Estimated taxes would be $87CAD
I"m thinking thats what the CBSA office will come up with when i try to clear it myself on Monday- and UPS is coming up with inflated "government charges"
Ill update this thread then. I'm thinking CBSA will be much cheaper than UPS
Hi SPARTAN114778922 -- The CS agent that assisted you was a bit confused, Massdrop does reserve inventory to make sure we can help get you a replacement for cases like this. If your CS agent hasn't reached out to you already, they will shortly to help work with you.
q2kleptoWent over yesterday and picked up my order. Literally no hassle just paid taxes the customs officer clearly mentioned there would be no duties on computer monitors. Just set it up and zero dead pixels..havent noticed any bleeding as of yet so I'm very happy with this product so far.
Got my monitor yesterday, ended up rearranging my entire desk because the monitor was a lot larger then I had thought it was. One observation and I think others have made this as well, the DP cable is too short, it barely reaches from the monitor to my computer, I ordered a longer one from Amazon, but 4' is silly for a standard computer under the desk set up.
JeeTheMenI bought two of these monitors and I am also noticing screen flickering on one of the displays. They are on different PCs ATM so ill swap them tonight to make sure its not the PC or Drivers.
JeeTheMenI do get screen flickering under certain conditions in some games, and non in some others. But it might not be the kind of flickering you get. Here's a video of mine. I haven't been able to figure out what causes this.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9j5LZDW1ueE
CharlieMasonI'm having flickering as well, with the first game I tried, Prey. It looks exactly the same as what is in your video. This happens when i turn freesync on and load certain games. If freesync is off, i don't have this issue.
RangerXMLDo you notice any bad ghosting in SC? For example, when I load up the single player map, the asteroids have trails whenever I move my ship. It's pretty bad.
IntegralsOnly when I’m in RTS mode (stick down to change modes), in normal I don’t notice ghosting. Also found FPS mod is great for seeing in the dark, I do use RTS mode to make out details in the distance since it seems to crank sharpness to 11.
CharlieMasonI believe freesync is your problem, disabling it should fix it if you have it enabled. For what ever reason the driver that comes with monitor has a freesync range of 40-100hz, but the monitor is only capable of 49-100hz which causes a gray screen to occur when your framerate gets low. If you disable freesync it should fix your problem.
CharlieMasonNot the same as mine... My screen goes black for maybe 1 sec and then come back... It happened in average a 2 to 4 minutes interval in my first game of pubg and same thing happened in destiny 2... Then for the rest of the afternoon I was not able to replicate it...
AveryCI started noticing some strange colorful artifacting on the screen and all of a sudden some black flashes which last about a second. I really don't know if its being caused by stress on the short cable, I'm getting a 6' cable in tomorrow so I'll see. Another thing to not, it only started up after I had a video on one side of the screen from youtube and a gif on the other side of the screen.
CharlieMasonoh man that blows!
I had mine since Friday and it works soooo great. (I know, rub it in, no I'm just saying mine works ok)
Also I'm NOT using the DispPort cable that came with the monitor
DO you have an nvidia ? do you have two monitors connected? even if not also change the display port on the card - plug it to the DispPort furthest from the motherboard. No I'm not making shit up, there are some strange issues with NVidia and first disport.
Juanathan007UPS Is the most garbage carrier. I let them know on Friday that ill be clearing it myself, but today theyre saying they have to "attempt" to delivery it. Like WTF - just hold it for me ill be doing half your job and picking the damned thing up myself.
Itll be a long time before I buy anything from Massdrop again
Juanathan007Yup just cleared it myself - bypassed UPS together, the monitor should be duty free (UPS tried to charge duty) - all in all it cost me $88CAD to clear it via CBSA
UPS is robbing all of us - avoid them at all costs - they always try to pull this crap
stupidusernamecheckMine works just fine as long as I don't have FreeSync on for specific games. So for example, The Witcher works perfectly with FreeSync off and there's no tearing any way so it isn't a loss. Another example, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare has minor stutters when going out of FreeSync range but doesn't exhibit the color flashes Witcher does when going out of range. You saw what it looks like with Freesync on in the video above. I've only had to turn off FreeSync for a few games so it's totally fine, those games have issues with FreeSync on my second monitor an Asus VG278Q anyway and we know that Freesync isn't properly supported by some games and is per application dependent. The only difference with the way these issues manifest themselves in the two monitors is that there is intermittent blacking of the Asus monitor out of the FreeSync range, whereas the Vast looks like the panel is shorting out or something. Since I use an AMD GPU(RX Vega64), I can just turn off FreeSync specifically for those games in the control panel and have nothing to worry about afterwards. Love the monitor.
PlayernameYou don't have to turn off freesync on your monitor completely. You can turn it off for specific games and programs in your AMD control panel. I would recommend turning it on globally, and turning it off for specific games because leaving it in AMD optimized may not be the best option. This will also save you from the hassle of having to turn FreeSync on or off everyone you want to run specific games.
ibibassWere you able to get display port to work with the native resolution and refresh rate? I had the dreaded "No Signal" message during setup. The Vast will show the post diagnostic messages during boot, but Windows won't boot in a login screen via display port. I got the "no signal" message unless I either (1) use a HDMI connection or (2) have a second monitor connected to Windows via HDMI.
Everything is working for me now. The last change I did was to perform a "Factor Reset" at the Vast and change LOS to 3 in the display port sub menu. If you are still having issues, maybe give that a try, best of luck!
CharlieMasonLike several other settings (DCR in brightness / contrast menu), I have no idea what LOS suppose to do. I tried all the suggested solutions from Google results (swapping DP cables, unplug power to Vast & PC, reinstall Nvidia driver, etc) without any success.
Frankly, I was desperate and about to contact Massdrop for support. I know that my video card has display port 1.4 and noticed the Vast only has setting for 1.1 and 1.2. I had a feeling that the PC hung when switching from DOS to graphic mode when Windows boots. Because of that, I thought there is a sync or mismatch with the signal some where. So I went ahead and messed around with the DP sub menu. Changing DP to 1.1 actually made it worse and then I noticed the LOS setting. So I fiddled with LOS=2 but LOS=3 seems to work for me.
CharlieMasonI want to know what the LOS setting does too. I can't find any info on Google, and the Manual doesn't explain it. Can Massdrop have the manufacturer explain please?
Also, out of curiosity, I wonder if the firmware is able to be upgraded. I noticed the version in the menu is v0.1.
MahlergreenI was unable to get it to work. Really disappointed too. Somehow stuck pixel are more important to Yanbo than a monitor just not functioning.
ibibassFinally getting my monitor today.
Seems like getting a good unit is a coin flip between QA & Fedex.
Then I needa dodge monitor tilt, bad construction, dad pixels, shipment smashing in my screen, no signal, etc.
I need someone to shou the coin de whey.
tgrobbinsYeah it's crazy how these shipping companies just tack on / justify random charges..yes I get they need to make a cut be profitable but that should be handled for the licencing rights not screwing the average person..
yes its very hot but I believe its normal...I ve read so on many review....For the screen flickering I ve replug all my cable (power cable was hard to put all the way in) and the flickering seems to be gone...So it may have been a badly plugged cable...Still investigating
JeeTheMenHas anyone encountered diminished backlighting at the sides and bottom? Mine is worst at the bottom, leading up from the bottom by a bit more 1/2 an inch. It's also causing diminished color response as well i.e. not a vivid.
Edit 1: Debating if I should contact support about this being a defect and asking for a replacement. Thoughts?
Edit 2: I'm actually measuring about 3/4 inch dimness bleeding up from the bottom...
LokgoloA slight vignette effect is present on mine, depending on viewing angle. When I pedestal the monitor up, this shadowing in the bottom corners and the bottom edge disappears. Just an un-ideal viewing angle problem, I believe.
JeeTheMenYep, had the same problem for a bit on day 1. Make sure that all of your cables (display and power) are firmly mounted. My power cable was a bit farther out of fully-slotted position than I would have thought after plugging it in. In addition, be sure that your graphics drivers are up to date and your rig is restarted to get them into effect. I haven't experienced any flicker or drop out since then.
WatchAndWarrantMy 6' DP cable just arrived today, but I really haven't been having any further issues, I did reseat the cables. But again, shame on Massdrop for thinking a 4' cable was ok to include with this, especially with the position of the actual port on the monitor, that is just asking to damage the monitor.
RangerXMLI ordered 10' just to be safe. I HATE the DP plug location though. I'm thinking about building/buying some sort of brace to keep the plug from torquing and damaging the port over time.
AveryCI got an HDCP handshake over the DP cable via the NV control panel and I had iTunes working with the monitor with the 4' cable by relogging into iTunes, but now that I switched to a 6' cable I can't play iTunes movies anymore, the screen turns on and off and iTunes locks up. Any suggestions?
tedYa, I'm getting a hard knock lesson on DP and DP 1.2 cables, ordering a Accell cable now which supposedly will take care of the issue, ended up going with the 10' cable since the 6' cost about the same. Funny thing the cable I ordered advertised as 1.2, but reviews said it had bandwidth issues.
HackinSpockThe 4' was the stock cable that came with the monitor, when I ordered the Accell DP 1.2 cable from Amazon the 10' was cheaper then the 6' so I got that. The prior 6' cable which was also advertised as a 1.2 cable had the flicker issue (I also experience flicker issues when the 4' stock cable wasn't properly seated) and from reading the reviews people were complaining that the cable I bought didn't have the proper bandwidth for a 1.2 cable.
Massive17How hot the bezel gets seems to depend on the monitor's brightness. Mine is set to 38, so it is just slightly warm, but not hot. However, it does get hot if you crank up the brightness. Though, it is not something I would worry about and massdrop seems to be doing a good job about sending replacements if your monitor has a defect.
I just got my replacement unit in and it is much better than the original (suffered from 6 dead pixels), the replacement does have 1/3 of a single dead pixel (red led on one pixel is out). But it is not something anyone could notice unless they were looking for it.
The only things that seemed a bit wierd was the freesync setting, but I found plugging in the displayport cable to the port at top of the graphics card (furthest from MB) seemed to fix the random gray screen in game. However, there is still a minor level of flickering while watching videos (fullscreen) with it on, so as long as you just turn it on when playing games and leave it off otherwise it seems to work now (at least for me). Also, freesync has a range from 40-100Hz and supports Low Frame Rate Compensation (LFC), which is better than it was advertised to support.
The input lag also appears to be non-existent. I don't have the proper tools to measure it, but I was able to score 162ms for a reaction time on the reaction time test from humanbenchmark.com with this monitor. Previously, I was only able to score in the 190's using my previous 75hz TN monitor. So I don't believe input lag is an issue.
Regarding ghosting, it is not noticeable unless there is a a transiton from dark grey to light gray/white, even then it looks more like typically ghosting than the smearing people reported with other monitors using the same panel. With that said, I cannot personally notice it in games and it doesn't bother me, but it's something to keep in mind if you are someone who is really sensitive to ghosting.
Overall I have to say I am very impressed with monitor and can confidently say it's the best monitor at it's price, even if it's $50-$100 more at the time of the next drop.
RangerXMLI am trying hard not to return my monitor but I still experience some black screen from time to time....changed the DP cable for a new one and I am still stuck with the issue...
I just realize this morning that my GPU as a 3th dp output (fattest from my Mobo)..I currently testing that but im fearing that after this I will be out of option to try....
My monitor brightness is set to 100 ( surrounded by windows) and the bottom bezel is getting pretty hot....maybe the black screen are related to overheating because of that? any thought?
JeeTheMenGot the new cable and it’s working out here, no issues besides those associated with alt+tabing out of a game at a bad time. Monitor does get warm, but nothing really I’m worr about, had older 120hz monitors that got down right toasty. I’m even using the “RTS” mode despite the alternate modes not looking that great, in games, it actually looks like Reshade a bit.
JeeTheMenThe only thing I can suggest is to make sure you are using a vesa certified cable (the head of the cable should have a D symbol on it), the default cable that came with the monitor is certified from what I can tell. Also, I am not sure what graphics card you are running, but set the graphics card clocks to the default settings. Especially the memory clock as overclocking the memory has led me to a similar experience you are having with my previous monitor setup. I am pretty sure you are running a Nvidia card, but make sure you have the Freesync option disabled in the OSD, not sure if this could cause the issue you are describing but it won't hurt to try. Also, make sure you are running this monitor at it's default refresh rate (100hz) as overclocking could cause the issue you are describing. If none of these suggestions work, I would suggest you lower the brightness just to see if the issue continues to occur.
SPARTAN1147789My card is a nvidia 1080 GTX and it's not overclocked... Monitor is at 100mhz in the nvidia control panel and all cable I've try are certified....
At this point I have requested a Rma and my second monitor is on the way....
I just hope this one will be worry free..
And BTW top notch consumer service by massdrop. So far they handle my case like champion, big thumbs up to them!
JeeTheMenI'm glad Massdrop was able to help you out as well, I got to say I also got excellent service from them and the replacement they sent me was much better than the original I got. Hopefully you just got a bad panel and the replacement works out for you.
JeeTheMenI ended up doing an RMA on mine over the shadowing effect along the sides and bottom. Support said that's not normal, so they'd switch me out. I expect my replacement to arrive around Wednesday next week.
AveryCSo I'm having the intermittent screen going black issue as well. I've reseated all cables multiple times made sure that they are very snug. I've made sure freesync is disabled I'm using a 1080, it seems super intermittent as well I'll maybe get a burst or two a day where it will black out ever couple minutes then it will be fine for the rest of the day. It doesn't seem to have a pattern it's happened in game and out of game. Any ideas would be much appreciated I haven't tried a new displayport cable yet that will most likely be my next step and if that doesn't fix the issue I might have to RMA it.
Chaos_TherumI have not been able to sort it out... I've change the DP output, bought a new DP cable and of course make sure the cable are plug all the way in... Waiting for my Rma to arrive this week... Best of luck to you
JeeTheMenIn the osd under Other Settings in DP Config you can choose either 1.2 or 1.1. However, I don't believe 1.1 can support 100hz with the native resolution. So I don't know if that's really the best solution.
SPARTAN1147789Well that explains the ghosting though I didn't get any black screens while it was set to dp 1.1 I have set it back to 1.2 let's see if I get the issues again.
JeeTheMenI had the same issue I had to unplug the monitor from the wall and computer then plug it all back in. Keep in mind it will be limited to 60 fps.
Chaos_TherumGot my RMA in today, second monitor is much better. Still a slight shadow effect but way less pronounced. Also has one less cosmetic issue of trim not seating correctly on the original, ironically right in front of the "PASS" sticker on the bottom trim.
Overall I'm happy with this monitor, especially for the price. Now on to seeing if I can overclock the refresh rate. I believe I saw someone had been trying to do so?

Also, if you have anything plugged into the HDMI 2.2 port, try unplugging it and see if that works. Another thing that help with my iTunes issues I had was to go into the Nvidia control panel and turn vsync off for itunes.exe
CharlieMasonTook me a long time to find too, but after about a dozen different Google searches, I saw the specs for another monitor mention "Los: The Los feature puts a crosshair overlay on the middle of the screen"
Sure enough, LOS 1, LOS 2, LOS 3... They're 3 different shapes of crosshairs. -_-
Updated 1/5: Hi Everyone, We have an update on the Massdrop Vast Curved Gaming Monitor.
