Interested in these, for the short term, are they "driveable" decently with just a smartphone (android)? or are these an DAC only kind of headphones? (not worried about the open nature and sound leakage). Thanks.
VeRKKThey're driveable but you'll have crank the level 2 or 3 times as much. Tried my evga x58 motherboard headphone jack, HP envy j100 laptop, and HTC one m9. Personally, I'd still use a dac since I can hear and prefer the slight improvement in frequency reproduction.
JediPeaceWalkerNo doubt, this is like my first serious headphones. I have, listened to alot of pro level stuff, but is like my first step into that area, so I just want to kickstart it with a nice pair, since Sennheiser seem to not work for my Metal only playlist, I decided to go with these. And just a really noob Massdrop question, does this have a limited quantity when it comes to this specific drop? Or is it only by the number of days? and If I do start the purchase proccess now, will they charge the card right away? Or when it is ready to ship? First time trying Masdrop, appreciate the help\answer :)
VeRKKThis particular version of the k7xx is limited to 150 it seems. They charge the card when it end (either on the end date, or when the limit is reached). All sales are final after that.
VeRKKThis is limited qty and days, as most drops. Earlier in Feb and March, the regular black colored k7xx were dropping and ending every day with no qty limit. If you miss these now, you could probably wait for them to redrop before the year is over.
VeRKKThere's a difference between being "driveable" as volume-wise and being enjoyable. Maybe you'll be able to get a decent volume with your smartphone / motherboard's 3.5mm jack, but you won't use their full potential and won't sound as good as they were drived with a proper amp.
VeRKKHaha, great job. You can always get a dac and an amp, but you won't be able to get these headphones at any time you want. You made a great decision. Happy listening!
nRaduYeah, that was my line of thought as well. There are obviously a lot of good options out there in the 200$ range, but I heard good things about these specifically for Metal, and they are comfortable, which is a must for me.
