Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

Sooooo stoked with them! Busy putting an O2 amp together and have ordered a Topping NX2 for portable use, but so far have been listening on my Dell Precision M4800 (surprisingly strong sound card) and my Samsung S6. The S6 struggles a bit fidelity wise, but volume is more than enough for me on the top end. Would usually listen at about 75-80% on the Sung.
First thing that I noticed when I unboxed was that the filler foam ring that sits between the left pad and the driver was off centre. Right side was perfect. Took the pad off, centred the foam ring, and put the pad back on. Easy enough. Would check yours to see if they have the same problem - it's most likely going to have some sort of an effect on the sound stage and balance.
I assume this filler foam ring is part of the improved bass response? A suggestion for future productions would be to lightly glue this foam ring to the back of the pad in at least 2 places, to keep it centred. Going to try and listen without the rings once they're broken in and we'll see what happens. I would guessmore sub bass and bass movement and a little less control in the upper mids and trebles.
Have been listening for about 2 hours and still quite sibilant, but I guess things will soften up quite a lot. Going to be breaking them in over the next few days. Otherwise, very very promising. Starting to hear the production flaws in a lot of my favourite music already. Mixed emotions about that part...
Anyway, very stoked with these. Thanks to Massdrop and AKG!
