There is no way this costs even a fifth of this price to make in china. Come on. ... I could see $19 but $49? Wasn't the US made TUKK $50?

ReallySickOfArguingThe TUKK was modeled after a refrigerator and didn't have the same auto-retracting feature that this one does. I'm also not convinced that any random asshole in the U.S. can outperform WE Knife Co when it comes to manufacturing prowess. And the guy who made the TUKK is without question a random asshole.

OmniseedIm not talking about quality, but manufacturing cost vs markup.

ReallySickOfArguingDo you think things cost exactly the same to make regardless of how it's made, the only difference being nation of origin?

OmniseedI know from personal experience in product development that overall manufacturing is MUCH cheaper in China. There is a reason nearly everything you buy is made there. This isn't exactly a complicated mechanism that requires tight tolerances or extremely different from the TUKK in the functionality of the design or required manufacturing processes.

ReallySickOfArguingAnd I know from personal experience in manufacturing that the only difference in cost you are referring to is labor. Unfortunately where this goes awry is that machining aluminum/brass/copper is not at all the same as machining harder materials like steel and titanium. It doesn't matter how much cheaper X is if you know nothing about the machining requirements. Your total machine time is much higher due to the change in feeds and speeds, as well as tooling requirements (carbide more than HSS). Add material costs on top of that, and now you have a pretty obvious reason why this is more expensive than the original. Although I'm sure you also thought the original was overpriced.

CyphreThe US made Titanium TUKK was $55 at blade HQ. This is overpriced.

ReallySickOfArguing"That's nice." Unfortunately the price delta does not suddenly drop exponentially due to labor, nor are the designs at all comparable. Feel free to go with what you enjoy, but don't go expecting insane prices just because something is made in China; especially WE Knife, who make quality products.

ReallySickOfArguingOh that's rich, a more expensive utility knife with all the ergonomic glory of a refrigerator and no self-retracting feature (because it's an even simpler version of this generic type of too) is the real utility knife to beat, eh?

OmniseedSo if two people say so, then it must be so? Thats a lot of name calling in public without context.

buckten"We all" as in everyone who participated in the original RUK drop. Can't really name names as to who was in the specific conversation because everything he said was removed.

bucktenIf you want name calling you should have been here when the TUKK guy and his alt accounts were harassing people on Massdrop and Instagram six or seven months ago, when it was in full swing. I didn't archive what was said, because why on Earth would I? And I am absolutely free to return fire at idiots even after they leave my digital presence.

OmniseedThen perhaps its best to leave it if you can't provide context, rather than bringing it up again by taking an anonymous shot at the guy. Nobody knows you here, and nobody apparently knows what happened except for you and one other guy.. You're absolutely correct, you're allowed to be a keyboard commando as much as you wish once "idiots" leave your digital presence.

bucktenOn the contrary, the only person who needs context is you. The rest of us (as in, us who participated in the original RUK, not just two people) are all well aware of what happened. If you don't, then that is fine. Just better off not interjecting at all.

CyphreAll due respect, you two are the only ones taking shots here. "The rest of us" as you put it, aren't here on this current RUK, so nobody knows what you're talking about. I don't like seeing people bashed for no apparent reason, especially with no context. So, take your own advise please, and don't interject your name calling if you don't want to provide some background. Pretty simple really

bucktenAll due respect, you are the only one who doesn't know what we're talking about; by your metrics, only you. The reason you only see 'us two' responding here is that this thread was already 4 days old by the time you decided to interject and derail the topic itself.
