Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

That said, my terribly subjective opinion would be to just get the new LCD2 Classics instead if you're gonna drop out - mine finally arrived today and in my personal (and again, subjective) opinion they do what the Elear wishes it had; and this is coming from someone that does like and has owned the Elear for about a year now. They're easier to find than a sub $600 deal for the Focal, they weigh about the same now and are about as comfortable since Audeze fixed that issue... They don't look as good but they're a steal.
If not then you're probably better off just saving up for the Clear, though you seem to be in a relative hurry to upgrade so maybe that's not the best advice.
I personally thought that the M1060s give the LCD2s (regular) a run for their money. To the tune of not wanting to spend the extra 300 for it. That being said, I made the mistake of demoing the LCD-4s then the Xs, the 3s then the 2s... so the 2s just didn't feel good after that... Probably would have been better if I worked my way up.
That being said, I don't have the Elears... I figure that's a much harder decision.
(also, I've kind of grown tired of pure black cans... I'd rather go with the Clear's design scheme anyways)
In my personal opinion, having heard the entire LCD lineup bar the LCD XC, the new 2C are about as close as you're gonna get to the 4s. It's not even close with the current production 2s, they quite handily (imo) beat the X and I also personally prefer them to the 3s. Of course YMMV and I've always been a huge fan of the OG LCD-2s so it's no wonder I love the 2C but others I trust very much (people on SBAF, mainly) concur so maybe I'm not crazy.
In addition to that, they're quite intimate and romantic sounding (some people even refer to them as claustrophobic), as is the entire LCD line, and because they are darker than neutral and have a certain charm to them that other headphones really can't quite replicate (the closest I've heard is the AQ Nighthawks which I also own and love).
Since you seem versed in Jazz I'll expand a little - my favourite artist of all time is Tom Waits. The 2C are the best headphones I've owned with Waits. Other personal favourites within the (semi) modern genres are Frank Zappa, Lera Lynn, Diana Krall, Leonard Cohen, Holly Cole, John Pizzarelli, Lake Street Dive, Sarah Blasko, etc. As you can see I heavily favour folk and blues tilts rather than hardcore, pure Jazz roots. The LCD2C are stellar at providing that hazy smoke filled 1970s-1980s bar sound, and for that they are unbeatable. Everyone speaks of how good their bass quality and quantity is for EDM and other electronic genres but to me THIS is their forte and what I give them the highest praise for. I truly do think you'll love them too.
PS: the Focal Clear are probably the best all-around (dynamic) headphones out there but I have only auditioned them very briefly so I cannot expand on that. I believe the 2C beat out the Elear in every way but that's very subjective.
