i would wholeheartedly suggest *this* pair of headphones against *any* up to $1,000.00 regardless of make.
i have a forty year long resume in high-end consumer electronics, including work for several manufacturers.
i bought the very first set of planar magnetic (orthodynamic) headphones on the market in the '70's, as well as the very first DAC and transport (Meridien). i've kept pace as well and i use the *highly regarded* Focal Twin 6Be studio monitors...which are also a huge value despite the mid four figure price.
these headphones (esp with 24/192 bit rate or Tidal) open up the recording with amazing precision.
i would dare say that anyone who is not floored by this headset (after breaking in) *does not know what a flat frequency response is* or has deficient hearing.
Hutmacherit is a statement in lieu of a review. reviews become tiresome if you don't have the same set of experiences. and i'm not here to polish my prose, i'm here because i'm an audio geek and this deal is amaze-balls.
also, as i have actually spent multiple tens of thousands of dollars on audio equipment over the years i know very little is worse than paying for a bad experience, sometimes through the nose.
i *know* the competition because i've owned or auditioned them all. and i don't drink marketing Kool-aid.
tunejunkyI agree completely. I have joined the drop BECAUSE I've had the opportunity to buy a pair of Focal Elear and I absolutely love them. So, I thought I could not go wrong with the Elex.
FWIW, my other headphones include Stax SR-007, Hifiman HE-6, Hifiman HE-500, MD Fostex TH-X00 and AKG K-701, just in case someone wonders what other cans I could use as reference.
