Support for Alternative Layouts
This is a summary of how alternative layouts have been supported by kits such as Colevrak and Homing. It is not a discussion of alt layout performance and development, but if that interests you I highly recommend starting with Pascal Getreuer’s A guide to alt keyboard layouts (why, how, which one?). It’s a concise and comprehensive overview with links to some great sites that go deeper. He also has a separate Links about keyboards page. The Keyboard layouts doc he recommends explains layout goals and metrics in detail, summarizing the alt layouts discussed here as well as more than one hundred others. So excited to finally announce this Scrabble-themed mechanical keyboard!
This really is, literally, a dream come true for me. I designed this board back last year after waking up from a dream where I could type on Scrabble pieces. Fast forward to now, and it's happening!
It was really important to me to have a keyboard as an option for people (not just keycaps). I know there are a lot of Scrabble players out there who don't necessarily build a bunch of keyboards in their spare time, and this is the perfect bundle for them! I'll personally be showing this to some word game-loving family members. :)
If you have questions, feel free to ask. Until then, here's some info you might find interesting! Every element of the design of this set was taken into careful consideration. The fonts for the letters and numbers match the Scrabble branding down to the width and spacing. The colors were picked from actual Scrabble sets. I went through several individually and picked colors that were about average across them (since it varies depending on when sets were sold). Plus, the shapes of the XDA keycaps were perfect for Scrabble tiles!
Thanks for playing, and helping real dreams come true!
Yes, that's correct.
