I'm thinking about buying these to use with my phone. Mainly for music and podcasts. But I noticed they don't come with an inline mic/volume control. Can anybody recommend a cable that works well with these headphones and a carrying case that they'll fit in?
Hadarsi320Actually they do but you're not likely to find one that works with these headphones. These are not intended for mobile use. Open back cans leak sound. You won't be isolated at all from the noise around you, nor will the people around you be isolated from your noise. @BBack22, Please consider that if you decide to buy in on these.
HeeftyThanks for the info. Yeah I'm starting to think these higher end headphones aren't really suited for my needs. I'm thinking about getting the hifiman edition s instead
BBack22As a studio musician and audio engineer that has done radio and podcasts I would highly recommend a closed back headphone. The Sennheiser HD 280 Pro and Audio Technica ATH-M40X/M50 are very popular. I've used the 280s in the studio for years and they have excellent isolation and SQ. I recently used the M50Xs and they also sounded great but they do have less isolation than the 280s.
As to inline controls, you'll have to look at in-ears for some of those features. Apple and Android have their own methods for implementation of volume control so they're not interchangeable. I have some Shure SE215 IEMs and while you can get an aftermarket cable with inline volume control for either device I haven't found anyone offering one with a mic, too. I would just stick with the OEM buds/cable if you must listen and talk on the go. Or you can overpay for some dedicated but mediocre in-ears that happen to have a mic.
