What is SpaceFN and why you should give it a try
The SpaceFN concept - setting up your space key as a layer switch when held - is probably one of the most useful tweaks in the keyboard hobby. Let me explain how it works. My SpaceFN article on kbd.news made some rounds recently - quite surprisingly given the age of this concept. This piece you're reading is a condensed version of the full post. If you're left with unanswered questions, you'll most likely find the info you're looking for in the original write-up. On my imaginary top list of the most useful keyboard features, tweaks and hacks, SpaceFN would deserve a podium finish for sure. But what makes it so special? In short: SpaceFN is easy to implement, easy to learn, costs nothing, can be used with any keyboard, and can improve your productivity instantly. I will list its benefits below, but can state right at this point that the SpaceFN concept, setting up your space key as a layer switch when held, is clearly one of the most useful tweaks in the keyboard hobby....

IMO, they only real reason to buy this board is the presumed nice build quality and the hot-swapable switches, which is probably a feature people will end up using much less than they anticipate.
IMO this board is in a weird spot between consumer and enthusiast.
Here's the short version of my answer:
Two or three of the keys might or might not be dead to the MacOS depending on what Input Club chooses to ship -- whether they choose a standard cross-platform configuration utilizing all of the keys for Windows, MacOS and Linux (in which case you'd learn to transpose Options/Alt and Cmd/WinKey when typing, which is incredibly easy), or a configuration like the one with which The WhiteFox shipped -- one that wasn't practical for mac users until they utilized the key configurator and transferred their own programmed layout.
If I were you, I'd find a friend with a PC (unless you own one yourself) who would be willing to transfer the layout you create or choose. I'd also watch for an upload by a fellow Mac user if you don't feel confident about using the Key Configurator.
Here are the instructions:

Here are some posts about using the configurator with a Mac (note the ones involving Karabiner):

As more people begin to use their K-Types, you'll see more uploads of configurations you might find useful.
